Default Something strikes me as odd.

My hometown paper's Letters to the Editor" published a letter yesterday from a deployed National Guardsman. He described the number of people from Abilene who are serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I posted a response, thanking him for doing a very dirty job, and encouraged him to keep his head down. I was taken to task by another person who compared my comments to spitting on a serviceman. Here's a link to the letter in question:

My comment is the third one down. Anybody else see an insult in there?

No insult seen. War is a dirty job.

Some people just aren't happy unless they are bitching about something.

Seems to me like the guy just wants to start something and has his head jammed up his own rectum.

Agreed on all points. Fighting a war is a dirty job in many ways - emotionally, physically and with what one has to contend with while deployed.

Abilene has its share of whiney bitchers with a chip on their shoulders, and they will never admit they misunderstood or made a mistake when confronted with their stupidity. The previous poster's comment about "Bush's War" was uncalled for as it serves no purpose in helping boost the morale of those deployed, but they're entitled to express their opinion (inconsiderate and thoughtless as it was).

Agreed about Abilene, txb&b. Nobody who has been there wonders why I got the hell out when I had the chance.

Now, don't get me wrong...I disagree with the Iraq situation for a lot of reasons. But I don't see how my comments in any way denigrated my brothers and sisters in uniform. I know quite a large number who are over there and agree with me. Not an optimal situation, but one which must be made the best of.

RogueNavy,
I took your comment as praise for SSG Wade and I'm certain he does as well. That's all that really counts.

That's the way I saw it, reddog. The problem with that particular forum is, far too many people think honest debate begins and ends with calling anyone who disagrees with them for any reason a "lib".

This thread is jacked up. War is dirty. That doesnt make it any less honorable. Alaskan crab fishing is a dirty job and I would bet that if someone told that to one of the captains they would agree with him and not think ill of the comment. Some of you folks seem to just be looking for a fight where there is none. I have been over there 3 times and it is a dirty job. Shut your trap Ranchero and find something worthwhile to complain about like the messy BCS system.
This is what I would have posted if the damn site would have let me.
