Default A new year and a New Instructor

Well my year in the NJROTC has begun anew and we have another new instructor which makes this another tough year. This our third iinstructor in as many years. Hopefully our instructor will stay with us. This year our unit hopes to do as well as last year even with the lost of some of our top performers.

Man, I've never heard of units having instructors being swapped out that much. I'm sure this will prove very challenging for your unit, but if you guys overcame that same problem last year, I'm sure you guys will do fine. Just keep your head up and be one of those people who replace those top performers that have just left! Good luck and maybe next year your unit won't be plauged by this new instructor curse if I may.

Since you have a new instructor, try to take up the slack that exists since it is their transition year into the school/area/program. If you don't, your program will end up like mine... where the cadets utterly despise the Senior Instructor.

My corps has been without an ASI for almost a year. In that abscense, the upperclassmen, as well as a few sophmores, have had to take up the slack. I must agree with Buffa1oso1di3r. Your instructor is new to the school and the area and to help him make a smooth transition, you need to help him learn about your corps and make the whole process easier for him.

This will be the second year for my SASI in my unit. The junior and senior cadets who had the old SASI despise the new SASI because the new SASI spent so much time adjusting and learning about the unit that he didnt do anything.

Similar situation in my unit sir. We have a new SASI this year from our rival school (even though he only been there for a year). But instead of him learning, he's changing everything, including new staff positions. My ASI, whose been there for 4 years dosen't know what to do because the former SASI, gave her all the power and work.

But so far, myself and the new SASI get along fine................becuse i got the position I wanted.

My new SASI, of a year and a half now, has done pretty much of the same thing your new SASI is doing/did. Since I have worked with my SASI and ASI so much I also got a good staff position, because I earned it. Get this, my ASI at my school has a husband at the same rank as an ASI teaching at my opponet school across town.

Towards the end of last year we got a new SASI, let's call him Lt. Col. M. Since this new school year has started, he's done a complete overhaul on our organization. He grouped us into two Squadrons in a single Group, and has instituted a lot of things that make our unit operate more like the actual USAF. It's really a lot more organized and a lot more things get done.

Glad to hear that man! It feels good to know that things work out. And even if he's still learning about your unit, pay attention, he's been there done that, and can teach you much more than you teach him. Like said before, its good to hear from you about it, maybe this will be the last new instructor some time.
