I was wondering what how do we recruit for Grunts? I would like to see a whole lot more people like on the Old-Forum. How would I go about doing this without violating CPP? I was thinking about creating a My space page(Just a idea), I have tried to recruit within my Unit(no Luck),Meets(It worked) and JCLC(It worked). Any ides appreciated and please tell me what you think of the idea.

The best way is to just tell people you know that might be interested. But to be honest, I would say the vast majority of members are people who just happen to stumble across the forum while searching for military related information on the internet.

Count me among the vast majority! (Was looking up information on blousing my boots).

Call it curiosity! The search engine finds us quite quickly and it is more of a matter of members wanting to be here than it is recruiting them. Our high standards tend to drive a lot of folks off.
I also feel that those that stay, try their best and really understand why we strive to be the best.

Same here, I found Grunts while looking up armed drill videos and I got addicted.

I think it's a good idea. I would have to say that telling people about it is the best way to get members. I was personally told about this site by TruBlu, a cadet from the same unit as me.

I actually thought the rank system was really cool. That was the initial selling point for me to come to the forum the first time I came. Now, I stay because of the people and the knowledge they have and are willing to share.

I stumbled on it looking Medal/Ribbon Criteria and Cadences and if you can't tell I am hooked. I read and re-read all the threads before I registered.

We don't, as an 'entity', make any special effort to recruit; as demonstrated above, 'our kind of people' manage to find us. If you look at the 'activity' tally at the bottom of the main forum page, there are generally more guests than members - those who think they may have 'found a home' register, the rest come and go.
By being 'who we are', we've also generally managed to keep from getting too far 'off topic' too often, and rarely experience profanity-laden 'screaming matches' between political polar opposites. We're a 'niche' forum, and as Top pointed out, we're also one of the few with higher than normal standards. By all means, should you find someone who you think would be an asset to the forum, or even just 'comfortable' in this atmosphere, extend the invitation, but being 'less selective' about whom you advertise us to may lead to some annoying 'clean-up details' for the Mods and senior members: My guideline from the early days has been 'would I want this guy in my outfit in the real world?' |
