Default The AFJROTC Flight Certificate Badge

My question regarding this award is what constitutes a "Flight Certificate" ? My google searches have revealed that this award is presented to cadets possesing a certficate which is signed by an FAA Flight Examiner, but whats the criteria for the certificate?

Thanks.

There are several different awards that are similar, but all fall into the same category.

Flight Solo: Awarded to any cadet possessing a solo flight certificate signed by a FAA certified flight instructor for either powered or non-powered aircraft.

Flight Certificate: Awarded to any cadet who possesses a valid FAA pilot’s certificate for either powered or non-powered aircraft.

Ground School: Awarded for completion of the honors ground school curriculum option or completion of an aviation ground school program prescribed by the FAA.

Basically, the Flight Solo is for anyone who has soloed in an aircraft, the Flight Certificate is for anyone with a pilot's license of any type, and the Ground School is for anyone who has completed FAA ground school.

Pilot "Licenses" are actually called "Certificates."

Someone who wants to learn to fly gets a "Student Pilot Certificate." This gives them permission to fly solo. (Qualifies you for the Flight Solo Badge)

Requirements for Student Pilot Certificate: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/become/student_cert/

Someone who can fly on their own with passengers (very vague description) would hold a Private Pilot Certificate. (Qualifies you for the Flight Certificate Badge).

You can find more information about how to become a certified pilot here: http://www.faa.gov/pilots/become/
