Are you talking about the rank on ACU's?

Sorry, When I was in Vietnam we call BDU's fatigues, and seeing pictures on the news with soldiers wearlng their rank in the middle of their chest not on the sleeves or collars.

It's a target... Aim small, miss small.

I suppose they just think it's a better way of identifying rank that having it on the arm or the helmet or whatever.

And before 'BDUs' (is there a 'battle undress uniform'?), we called 'em utilities. Just a little curious about the 'creative' spelling in your first post and the lack of any 'intro' in the 'new members' area - we get a lot of kiddie wannabes from time to time.

Sorry, I am a product of L.A. City schools in the 60's when they taught phonic spelling.
Do I introduce myself each time I write a reply?

Coincidentally, I was in a conference all week with our ABCA partners. All of us (UK, US, CA, AS) now wear our rank insignia on the chest on our BDUtilifatigues.

BTW, Spider, I played prop myself, much to the dismay of my team and the joy of our adversaries.

No, but a single intro before one jumps into a discussion is polite. Even for 'veterans of the old forum(s)', while some may recognize a name or avatar, there are new members here who might like to know with whom they're carrying on a conversation.
