Default Rarely Given Ribbons/Awards

Today I received the Personal Appearance ribbon, only the second one every given in our Jrotc's current program. Another one is the Cadet Medal of Heroism, my friend, our current C/CSM, has gotten this award twice. He is the only one to ever receive this award but also the first to receive it twice. I was just wondering what awards are rarely given out in other programs, and also is wondering if anyone in the forum has received these prestigious(?) awards.

What is the Personnel Appearance ribbon awarded for? Was it a huge ceremony? What did you do to get it?

Medal of Heroism, I am the only Cadet to be awarded the Medal of Heroism in my County.

That's odd because I was in an AJROTC unit and as long as you wore your uniform and never missed a day then you earned it. The criteria must be different at your school. My unit's hard to earn ribbon is Meritorious Acheivement and Normally only one or two cadets earn it, and it's normally only one whoever served as the CO for that year.

I'm ont quite sure our SAI just told me what I told you guys, but to PaulR the Personal Appearance ribbon is awarded to cadets who show outstanding appearance, specifically when wearing our uniforms, and I am guessing I received this award for doing just so, and it was nothing formal our SAI just presented it to me during our Raider practice.

In my unit it is Medal of Heroism. No one has it, and I am pretty sure no one knows how to get it. Academic Excellence and Academic Wreath are both difficult to get. Lastly Aquatics, that is hard because it is a JCLC ribbon and the camp we go to doesn't have a pool.

You make that award sound like a Merit Badge or something. Such things are not given. They are awarded.

The Medalof Heroism is awarded for Risking your life to save somebodies elses, I know I have been awarded it. The Academic wreath is very hard to get in my program you can only get it if you have a 100% in a JROTC class. In my unit the only people who can get it are BNCO,XO,BNSGM,Staff,Company Commanders,Team Commanders and Company First Sergeants. I am about to get the Red Tab that goes behind it in January. We award it every Semester you have a 100% in.

I think one of you should post the JROTC Awards Manual and that would put an end to any and all awards related questions. You are all capable of showing why you deserve the awards you wear by the conduct and bearing you display in your posts on Grunt's Cadet Forum. Just a suggestion from a former Sea Cadet...
