Default Army Pamphlet 611-21

I was doing some digging on whether or not I have to be 18 in order to branch 31B (MP) and I was told that I do have to be 18. Someone even told me that I can't even start BCT until I'm 18. He brough up Army Pamphlet 611-21 as said that EVERYONE must be 18 at the time of entrance into active duty, which according to him, began at basic. In my mind, this statement is completely ridiculous. Saying that EVERYONE going to basic is at least 18 is completely false. I know several people who have done exactly that at 17.

If you are 17 you need a parent's signature.

Being mobile right now, I can't look up regs to back up anyone's statements. However, I can tell you that a Soldier in my unit (MOS 21W if I remember right) got here 4 months before his 18th birthday. Continue to research the regs and you'll find your answer.

Honestly and truthfully, I already brought this up to you several times, so stop asking the same questions when you came to me for advice. This is starting to get on my nerves a little bit.

I went through Basic at 17, and Advanced at 18, I already told you numerous times that you can indeed go to Basic at 17, for MOS 31 B, it just depends on if you meet the requirements.

After skimming through 611-21, it is full of Army Acronyms, and does not have anything to do with the above MOS.

I suggest you research these things yourself, and quit asking my advice if your not willing to at least take my word for it. If you ask me for advice, and then I see another of these, I'll be very upset, since I already answered you numerous times and covered this already.

Why be upset? If and when I need info, I ask the same question to at least 3 different people, you never know when you might get 3 different anwsers, So I wouldn't bag on him too much, He just wants to know that he is getting the right anwser.

Already got it and signed up. I just need to swear in, which is why I'm trying to get as much information as possible before hand.
