I'm heading off to MEPS tomorrow to get medically evaluated. I'm told that I can expect blood tests, urinalysis, blood pressure tests, lots of medical questions, waiting in line, and definitely getting to know the medical examiners in a very "personal" way.
Other than the vague and obvious stuff that'll get done, I honestly don't know what to expect. I went to the MEPS station today to take my ASVAB (got a 69) so have some idea of the way the facility is layed out. I know at least four fellow Guardsmen are going to be there with me but there's a lot of unknowns for me. I'm kind of nervous but I know that it's important and that it needs to be done. From the people I personally know in the military, they have a lot of interesting and somewhat funny stories about their visit to MEPS. If any of you would like to share yours, by all means do so. I know I will when I get back.

It is a thorough Physical Exam. Pure and simple. Why? Because the Military is not going to let you in if you have a pre-existing physical condition that you might try to hide. People do that all the time, or at least try too.
Don't sweat this!

Yeah, just got back and I'm glad it's finally done. Got there at 0630 and waited in lines for a few hours. Did an eye test, got blood taken, did the urinalysis, did the physical, and the 25 excercises with a bunch of other guys all in their skivvies. It took a while but I'm glad it's over and done with. The only thing I had a problem with was the eye test. I wear contact lenses/glasses and today I wore my glasses to the MEPS. The made me take off my glasses during the part where they had me read the lines of letters so I couldn't really see it well. I have to wait for a call from them telling me where to go to get my eyes checked out and then I can get back on track to swearing in. It's just a minor pot hole that'll delay me for about a week or so. I was really looking forward to swearing in and finally getting in but it didn't get to happen today. Oh well, best laid plans...
