Default Over - For Now

With 89% of the precincts reported, it's official that I was third in the five-way race for two seats in the Arizona House of Representatives. I want to thank those of you who provided support and funds, and assure you that it is only a minor setback. The campaign to take one of those seats in 2010 begins tomorrow - with the campaign to take back the federal Executive and Legislative branches.

With only $1000 in privately raised funds, we beat the radical liberal 'green' candidate by better than 3 to 1, despite his $20,000 in public funds, and garnered 17% of the vote in an almost 90% hispanic-legacy democrat district. With a one-man campaign, we made a serious showing against three well-financed, fully staffed organizations. As any student of American military history knows, we took a whuppin' at Bataan and at the Kasserine Pass, but we came back and gave a bigger one - and we all know what happens to those who do not learn from history.

Duke,

I followed things through the night. Sorry for the loss, but you showed a strong following when compared to the others. You said it before, you are in a strong Democratic area and to un-seat two Democratic incumbents would have been difficult even with a boatload of money. I just wonder how well those two really represent their constituents?

Sir, I am PROUD of you for your effort!

Congrats!! 3rd in your first election is not bad at all. Now the populace knows you and you have time now to bend them to your will. Fortunately for you, the majority of the sheeple do not know history and this can work to your advantage. Time is on your side now General.

Or you can just go 'Hathcock' on 1st and 2nd place and improve your standing through attrition.

If there was any beach in Arizona to keep my wife occupied I would try and make it out for your 2010 bid. Any way of re-routing the gulf of mexico to Arizona?

Good show! Losing a battle does not mean losing a war. The really unfortunate thing is that now you will have to go back to working for a living

On the plus side for you, Colorado is now officially a blue state. We've seen this coming for quite some time. Now, if that old saw about blue states supporting red states is true, you can take some solace in the fact that some of my hard earned cash is coming your way.

Take a break, do some organizing and give 'em hell next time!

Good work, Leatherneck. My prediction is a well calibrated winning machine in two years time.

Oh, we have miles and miles and miles of beautiful beach - unfortunately, it doesn't lead to water (save for the area bordering on Nevada where they built somewhat of a dam a few years back), but according to scientific predictions, Yuma will eventually be ocean-front property.

Again, thanks for the support - both moral and monetary - from those who gave it, and remember - Marines are accustomed to uphill battles, and Suribachi wasn't taken on the first assault either.

You didn't run with/against the (in)famous Frank Antenori did you?

Of course not - Frank's in Legislative District 30, I'm in 27, and each district in AZ has two House seats, so even if we were in the same district, we'd be running together against the liberals. He's intelligent, articulate, and he's done his homework - and I consider him a friend...but he would have had a hard time winning in my district. Do you happen to know him?

Default The climb...

Just a little bump on that upward climb, Marine. The top is now in sight and the road's getting better.
Easy Brother,
