Default War bonds lighters World war two lighters

Does anyone know if these used to be some kind of war posters or
something? http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/lighters_c.htm
Were these sayings on these lighters actually used in war times?

Those are so cool. I might by my great-uncle one. He served with the 101st in World-War two he earned two bronze stars, one silver star and three purple hearts. He never made above PFC though.
