Default Hello!!

Hello All,

My name is Scrappy.......I am an ex-USAF Intel Ops Spec assigned to the 1st Fighter Wing about a BILLION years ago.

Before that, I participated as a cadet in Civil Air Patrol and JROTC from 1991- 1995.

I found this site by way of searching Google for CAP Senior Member Ranks, and a couple of the threads here showed up in my results. To say that I was suprised that such a forum existed is an understatement and an embarrassment. It stands to reason in this day and age that a military forum with space for cadets exists......I should have thought of this a long time ago, hence the embarrassment.

I have belonged to a few forums for fellow sportbike riders and it all seemed to end in drama (that's right, testosterone induced drama with a complete absence of estrogen in 95% of the keyboard commando fights with 0% live octane challenges) so I am looking for something that is aligned with my personality on a broader scale.

I miss the military (but not the deployments, LOL) and the sense of comraderie that came with having a second family, and I think that is why I re-joined CAP as a Senior Member. Well, one of the reasons.

The other reason is that I recently found out that my cadet squadron in AZ Wing, Group 3 completely disbanded.....and my mentor passed away a few years back from a heart attack......the thought of all the hard work and commitment that he put into us only for him to not have a legacy of any kind left behind absolutely broke me inside. So, in his honor, I have re-joined CAP to work with the cadets, to try to be to them what he was to me. Does that make sense?

So, there 's a little bit about me. I also have a myspace page for pics of the stang and the bike......I'm going to go browse the rest of the site and find some interesting stuff to read. Catch you all later.

Welcome to the forum. Your story makes me sad, but thanks for joining CAP as a senior member.

Welcome to the forum Scrappy, it's always good to get some fresh blood with a broad range of experience in here. I'm sure it will be very helpful to the CAP Cadets have another Senior Member on the forums.

Thank you...... that's something I picked up from the sportbike forums, so I wish I could take credit, but I can't.

How long have you been in here?

Thank you for the welcome........ I am already enjoying these forums. The absence of rampant keyboard commandos is refreshing by itself, but then adding in the level of mutual respect that everyone seems to have for each other here (that i've seen so far, ha ha) is very impressive!

I've been with Grunts for a while now. I think it was '05 that I started hanging out around here (or was it '04....heck, I can't remember). A few of us go a ways back....
