Default Military History

While the administrators may not agree, and say "just another egostic teenager ranting against authority", i dot not believe it is fair to reserve the "Military History" forum for those of 18 years and older.

I bring this up because i went to post in Military History, and it tells me i need to wait another year for my 18th birthday.

This is not fair for at least two reasons I'm aware of:
1. Cadets/students of exceptional intelligence may want to partake in the Military History discussions. Hence AP students, (Highschool students, usually upperclassmen whom have already completed History in college, but are not 18 yet)
2. Cadets/students may want to ask someone possibly a veteran in the section a question regarding a subject in Military History, and that way it is open for all to see the anwser from a primary source online.

Now i understand this subject may be closed for these reasons:
1.A cadet/student engaging in debate with a more senior/experienced person on the forum, using misconstrued and/or just plain wrong facts.
2.Posting misconstrued/wrong facts on the forum. Which may of course offend Veterans.

However, if you look at the good that can come from it, on reason 2.) "why it is not fair"; it clearly out weighs why the subject is closed, and it seems logical or at least to me that the subject be opened to minors.

Son, 'fair' is where you go on rides and eat cotton candy - and if you have something valuable to contribute, there are ways of making it happen. Bear in mind, though, that some of the history you're commenting on may well be what some of the members here made (and are somewhat more cognizant of than the 'historians' who cherry-pick fact and detail to fit their preconceived notions). Oh, and why did you name yourself after a really bad, cheap brand of coffee?

ES, go back and edit your post, there are typos to be corrected.

Then your post might actually be taken seriously.

I (as a cadet) agree with El Supremo, in the fact that Cadets should be allowed to talk about Military History, so that we may gain all the knowledge that we can... yes, we can read it, but what if we wish to join in the discussion, or we actually have something valuble to contribute?

El Supremo,

This is a great opportunity for you to realize that sometimes there are higher powers that construct/arrange things a certain way. Even if you don't know the logic behind something, it can be beneficial to simply trust in the judgement of the person or group who DOES know such reasons. We've got very competent moderators and if there's a way something is being done here, you can bet your life savings that there's a real good reason behind it. Just because you don't know why something is done doesn't mean a) it needs to be questioned and b) an explanation needs to be given. I'm sure as a Battalion Executive Officer, you expect your policies to be carried out without question and without having to explain to each individual cadet the intricacies of the reasoning behind such policies. All I'm doing is suggesting that it might be beneficial for you to bring that same attitude of compliance to these forums.

I honestly believe that if I posted in "Questions and comments about the site" my thread/thesis on why Military history would be fine area to question, now if I was told by an adminstrator "It's like that because I said so", then I would have to resign from asking questions about the "Military History" forum closed to minors, then I would use your logic.

I suppose being an existentialist is going to get me in a lot of trouble on this site. .

As for the "El Supremo" name, I was nicknamed that by the corps of cadets at my school when one cadet reffered to me as what the General officers in W.E.B. Griffin's book's refer to General of the Army Douglas Macarthur in casual conversation; and that is the mystery behind the name. I dont drink coffee so i wouldn't know.

As a high school kid, you may think you 'know' quite a bit - most of us in the 'adult' forum went through that stage, before we learned just how much we didn't know. Granted, some 'know' a reasonable amount, and in some cases, a good deal of what they 'know' is actually accurate. This is, however, hardly universal - some of the threads (have you checked 'is politics fair game' lately?) are compilations of prejudice, ignorance, and cant masquerading (poorly) as 'knowledge'.

Speaking of 'knowledge', there is only one 'Administrator' on this forum - but then, if you had been paying attention (rather than sounding off), you might have noticed that. You might also have noticed that in the Georgia located in this country, we spell 'honor' - as in your 'Honour Guard Commander' - without the foppish British 'u'.

I do not make a habit of repeating myself, but just so it's clear - if you have something to add to a discussion in an area 'off limits' to you, contact a Moderator.

I stand corrected, thank you, sir.
