Medals and Ribbons...

I am curious to update my military record to reflect time I spent during the Bosnia Conflict. I had NATO orders and served a supporting role near the theatre. I have seen specific NATO Medals for this but my DD214 does not reflect this time spent.

I know it may be petty but I would like to find out how to update my record.

Any ideas?

In the Navy, Page 5 of our ESR (Enlisted Service Record) is a listing of all our assignments with to / from dates. I'm sure the AF has a similar listing of your assignments in your old personnel record...just order your records, and then petition to have your DD-214 updated. I'm sure all the red tape, bueracracy BS will take forever and a day, but it can be done.

Amen!! I have just been handed down the M1911 my great grandfather carried in WW1(Army Ambulance Corps)! It was made to last forever!

Do you still have any documents or certificates that point back to your service in the theater? I am surprised that I dont see a campaign medal or even an Armed Forces Expeditionary Service Medal at the minimum. How long were you over there(consecutive and non consecutive time)?

You needed 30 consecutive days to get the NATO medal and the AFEM. I was there in 2002. Were you there straight or did you fly in and out?

I thought that it was 30 days consecutive OR 60 days non consecutive.

You're right. That's why I asked about flying in and out.... here's more:

-Be engaged in direct support for 30 consecutive days in the AOE

-Provide direct support in the AOE for 60 nonconsecutive days

-Be engaged in actual combat, or duty that is equally hazardous as combat duty, during the operation with armed opposition, regardless of time in the AOE

-Participate as a regularly assigned crew member of an aircraft flying into, out of, within, or over the AOE in support of OJF.

-Participants are entitled to only one AFEM for assignment to OJE/OJG/OJF
