Default Return of Medals

I am a resident of the uk who has always been interested in the American Millitary, when i was 10 my father bought some american air force medals for me as a present.
Recently my wife suggested i try and track down the original owner to either return them to him or his family.

I have a Purple Heart with two bars, an Air force commendatin medal and an Air Medal with four leaves.

I would realy like to track down the owner, can anyone help please, there are no markings is there any way to do it

Many thanks

Without a name or any other information, it would be impossible to track down the original owner. Those are pretty common medals and thousands have been issued over the years.

I agree Tantive, and frankly i think it is a shame that someone would give up something so precious that they have earned. I wouldnt dare throw away any medals I ever earned, knowing what memories I had earning what I do have from ROTC/JROTC and what I would do in the future? What memories and what I had to go through that I recieved something as prestigious as a purple heart, a commendation medal, a service medal... I wouldnt trade that for anything.

But again... Sometimes you can track them down but you need to have something on the medal, some kind of an inscription, a date, even a partial name could give you a clue as to who's it was. Even so, maybe it was sold by a family member of the deceased owner. You never can know under what circumstances that the medals were passed away from their orignal owners.

But the fact that you are in favor of passing them back to their owners leads me to belive you are good in your intentions and are commendable for them yourself.
