Default The Writer's Thread

This is for writers, mainly members of the Author's Pen Society Social Group to post their work for public view and reaction.

Since this thread ties into one of my Social Groups, StormCrow requests a sticky for this thread.

Enjoy...

Storm Crow,

The group sounds like a nice Idea, thought I would stir this topic up a little bit and add something to it. Whats your writing style? What do you write most often?

I like to write poetry most of all,

I am working on a few stories but the plots have all been done before. I write essay's when I want to explain things to myself in English...lol. But I really like writing poetry. Its helps get things off my chest.

If I may, I'd like to start off the writer's thread with a poem of mine entitled "Going Home"

We gaze upon the coffins containing the dead,
in this place not much is said.
We kneel by the coffins draped with flags,
adorned with red, white, and blue, along with dogtags.
We choke back painful tears,
remembering all those memories from all those years.
Our tears strike the deck and become dry,
eventually all present will cease to cry.
Our brothers and sisters in arms have been taken away,
there is no end in sight to this horrific day.
The order is given and we snap off a crisp salute,
our hands do not quiver, they deserve that much.
We march off the plane with tears in our eyes,
our minds are asking questions that begin with 'if' and 'why'.
The C-130, lifts off with the callsign: 'Rome',
Brothers and sisters: you got your wish; you're finally going home.

Default In love or not

L-O-V-E
It's such a little word that changes everything
It goes from a date to a wedding ring
I want to give you last name
I'm sick of the crying, sick of teh pain
Lookign at you while the choir sings
How can I get my heart broken at my church
Or how can you come and dis me at work
I know I hurt you but god has punished me
So why can't you just say you love me
I know you do because your friend told me you do
Gumdrop you know I love you

Believe me brother, I know how that goes. Unfortunately, just about every plot ever concocted has been done before, and will be done again. I recognized a while back when writing that these "ideas" you come up with have often been influenced by something seen or heard. Your best bet is to just write something that entertains you, rather than worry about an 'original' plot.

People tell the same stories all the time, some just tell them better.
