Why is it that sometimes, when I click on the subject of a thread that I have already read, and there are new, unread posts, it takes me to the new posts, and other times, same situation, it takes me to the beginning of the thread instead?

The blue arrow icon at the end of the post notification (located after the time of post) will always take you to the most recent reply.
If you click the thread name, it starts you at the beginning. If that wasn't what you were asking, my bad. |

To clarify, on a different forum, we have a "new" button on threads that only shows up if there are posts that you have not read, and it takes you to the last post you have read, not the end of the thread. What I mean is, say there have been ten replies since you have opened a thread. The title takes you to the beginning, the blue arrow takes you to the end. Then you gave to scroll back to the last post you read. Am I just missing something, or is there a way to just go to where "you" left off?

Alright, I think I catch your drift. Once in the topic, look at the top of the post, theres an icon that resembles a sheet of paper. Blue is cold, means you've read it. Orange/Red should be a new post.
EDIT: Upper left corner of every post, right next to the time stamp. |

But, I think I figured it out: Opening the thread by clicking on the title starts you at the beginning. Then, there is an icon that says "view first unread". Clicking that takes you to the spot where you left off. Unlike our other place, there is a "new" button next to the title of the thread. Clicking it automatically takes you to the same place. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Forums vary site to site, I've seen ones that will let you know what sub-forums have new posts, what threads have new posts, on and on. I think it's just a matter of fiddling with the personal settings. Usually I just hit the newest post and backtrack to where I remember leaving off. |
