Let me make sure I have this right, and please correct me if I'm mistaken;

You've been linking directly to the images on GruntsMilitary.com from another web site? So, in other words, an image displayed on your site was actually hosted on GruntsMilitary.com?

Well it's funny you mention this, because there are two likely causes for what happened. First, when we moved to the new server we did not trasnfer the "old" forum data (though I did back this up to my computer locally in case we ever need it) so that's why when you type that link now, it doesn't find anything.

I'm guessing the second cause may have something to do with another feature we've recently implemented on the new server:

Quote:
HotLink Protection HotLink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website. Other sites will still be able to link to any file type that you don't specify (ie. html files). An example of hotlinking would be using a <img> tag to display an image from your site from somewhere else on the net. The end result is that the other site is stealing your bandwidth.

That's the official blurb from my admin tool. We did recently "enable" this function so as to further prevent any other sites from using our bandwidth.

As long as you ask permission, I will probably have no issues with allowing you to download these rank images and upload them to your own site. (Please let me know what site they're being used on, and their purpose. You can PM me that if you like.)

So, to summarize; you really shouldn't link directly to images on other folks' sites, because it ends up putting a strain on their servers to deliver to a site other than their own (might not seem like a big deal for a few images, but if you multiply that by 10, 100, or 1000 people doing it, it does add-up).

Please let me know!

(Also I've moved this post to the "Questions/Comments" area.)

Sorry for using you're images by direct hyperlink, wasn't realize that this could slowdown your site, plz accept my apologizes.

I only used the army and generals 2/3/ and 4 stars images in the same size shown on your site for my Dutch Ikariam forum.

If i can download them from this site (haven't find them yet ) and store them on my own comp for using on my sites, i would be very grateful.

thx.
