Default CIAS CyberPatriot Competition

Is anyone else here knowledgeable about (or involved in) this competition? My squadron commander received word that all CAP squadrons are invited to make a team and participate, and we plan on doing so.

For those who aren't familiar with this - the U of Texas, San Antonio's Center for Infrastructure Assurance and Security (CIAS), Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the Air Force Association (AFA), and AFJROTC / CAP have partnered together to create a cyber defense compeition which tests student's abilities to defend a computer network against a simulated attack. It seems like a pretty big deal, especially if you get to the final stages of the compeition.

More info on the subject can be found at their website: http://www.highschoolcdc.com

My SASI asked my class a few weeks ago if anyone was interested in being part of our team, I don't know how many people actually signed up, or if we have a team locked in yet. Nothing else has been said about it.

When I first heard about it - I initially thought, "no way are we going to get that many people who are that knowledgeable about computer network security and information assurance..." - then I was informed that you only need to be computer-literate. (I am forever greatful that my school has basic and intermediate-level computer classes, which are required for graduation.)

Yea, I was the one who told my SASI about it, and thought that no one would do it, because honestly, I don't really see anyone in my ROTC Unit being extreamly good at computers.
