Default Staff Positions

I am just curious for all current or former NJROTC cadets what staff positions your unit uses. For the end of the year I am going to talk with my SNSI about the issues with staff we have, and where improvements can be made, and I would like to look at some positions that could be beneficial to our unit, also what year and rank that position would typically hold.

Thanks in advance!

Hmm let's see how well I remember this

Battalion CO: C/Commander (NS4)
Battalion XO: C/Lt. Commander (NS4)
Company CO: C/Lt. Commander (NS4)
Company XO: C/Lieutenant (NS3)
Operations Officer: C/Lt. Junior Grade (NS3/4)
Administration Officer: C/Lt. Junior Grade (NS3/4)
Supply Officer: C/Ensign (NS3/4)
Public Affairs Officer: C/Lt. Junior Grade (NS3/4)
Battalion/Company Master Chief: C/Master Chief Petty Officer (NS4)
Chaplain: C/ Master Chief Petty Officer (NS2/3/4)
Platoon CO: C/Senior Chief Petty Officer (NS3/4)
Platoon XO: C/Petty Officer 1st Class (NS2/3)
Team CO: C/Chief Petty Officer (NS2/3*)
Team XO: C/Petty Officer 2cnd Class (NS1/2)
Squad Leader: C/Seaman Apprentice (NS1)
Military Ball Coordinator: C/ Chief Petty Officer (NS4**)

*Some positions had the possibility for younger cadet's to have higher responsibility if they had previous experience i.e. Military Schooling, CAP, Young Marines ect ect. It was only a team CO position that they would be available to have a CO position for a NS2. It would normally be reserved for NS3's but not uncommon for NS2's depending on experience.

** The Military Ball Coordinator was always a senior. It was meant to be for the seniors to coordinate as it was "our" ball. Kind of like the senior prom, it was our last ball so a senior would be in charge of coordinating the military ball for that year.

That's from what I remember, I know I'm missing some positions, but it's been nearly 6 year's since I was in NJROTC. All of the ranks we had except for the Company/Battalion/Regiment staff positions ranks varied. Some could be a higher rank when accepting the position.

Let me ask you something, is the C/Colonel rank rarely used? Like NJROTC we have a C/Captain but it has to be authorized by the area manager for a unit to use it.

Yes, C/Colonel is rarely used. Usually the S-2 is a C/Cpt too as well as Company Commanders. The Company XO is usually a C/1LT. 1SG's are C/1SG's too, not C/SFC. That would be Platoon Sergeant's.

OK, I was just wondering. I would see in peoples sig stating they were C/Colonels on this forum, which made it seem more common, but reading some posts about structure sounds like it would contradict that statement. I would presume C/Colonel would be used in Regiments like C/Captain. (Allthough C/Captain is VERY rare, I've never seen a NJROTC unit with a C/Captain, C/Commander was always the highest.)

In AJROTC C/Colonel is used for a Brigade Commander(it's usually given to one cadet in a county if there are more than three battalions).

The only C/Colonel's I've seen have been in AFJROTC. Except for Chicago, who has lots of them and even a C/Brigadier General. It just disgusts me.

That is completely against the rules, it says nowhere in any regulation to designate cadet general ranks, but they also have a cadet rear admiral there too, it's ridiculous.

As for the c/Captain I have seen a few where they have really large units, and the area manager approved them, but it still doesn't call for them in the manual either.

The fact that their instructors allow it is just disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. And I'm really surprised cadet command hasn't stopped it.
