Texas is trying to pull some screwy sh*t on me...
I got a letter from the Texas Workforce Commission yesterday...our version of the Employment Commission. They claim that 14 years ago, they overpaid me $1200, and have given me 30 days to pay it back. Now, in that 14 years, I spent 6 consecutive years as a State employee. I never wanted the damn benefits, anyway, but I was young and the Vet's Rep talked me into signing up. I dropped the program 3 months later when I took a second job, and didn't have any conceivable reason to continue taking money for nothing. I'm just wondering how they can justify suddenly after 14 years, deciding that they overpaid me.
