Competition moves
At competition do the moves "Dress right dress, ready front, and cover" count as one move? I have competition next week and I don't want points deducted off for calling a move thats not on the drill card. Oh and while marching the moves close and extend march are called-do I call foward march even though it's not on the drill card? Because during close and extend we are half-stepping after the move is called.

Remember, you can always ask this question during the Commanders Call before the meet, or ask the head judge directly before you are about to go on. One thing I always do is write down all the questions I have and make sure they are answered before I go on.

If it is not on the drill card, I wouldn't call it. I have been to competitions where it had forward march after close and normal intervals and competitions that didn't have it. I would just suggest adapting to the drill card for this competition.

The Florida Army Drill Sequence for a while did not include the "Forward, March" after "Left Wheel, March", "Right Wheel, March" and "Colors Reverse, March" for the Color Guard sequence, but they still got called because by the regulation (FM 3-21.5), they have to be. Same thing here, if by regulation you have to call "Forward, March" after "Extend, March", I would call it and if the judges docked you points for it cite the regulation. Most competitions have a way to appeal something, and if it requires going that route, I would have my instructor do it.

Ok well the they are in columns, so I guess that makes sense. I checked my drill manual and it didn't say anything, or I didn't check close enough. Our drill manual is the Marine Corps DM 5060.20 I think...not sure. Hopefully we place at comp.

|
For all Navy NJROTC competitions after close and extend you call forward march. I have no text to qoute here, but I do know from experience having commanded for three NJROTC competitons this year, and they never took off.
