Default HCR 6 New Hampshire's resolution

This was brought to the attention of my German 2 class by our teacher. Apparently New Hampshire is threatening to 'secede' from the Union. This has been caused by the 1 trillion dollar spending plan and government atrocities against the constitution. If you have any info or if I got the story wrong please let me know.

The bill - http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/legi...9/HCR0006.html

I couldn't find the site originally used by my teacher to show the whole story and those participating. As far as I know New Hampshire and Oklahoma are in it as well as 6 others I believe and other states are pending this week. Hooray! For constitutional rights!

The State of New Hampshire, certainly, is not threatening to secede from the Union. It is a proclamation serving as a reminder to the senate, house and President, of our rights as a state.

They typically write one of these for every new session of the New Hampshire House of Representatives. "Live Free or Die" is our state's motto, and many of us in this state (excluding those pouring across the border from the south) still believe in what it means.

As with any state, you will find a group of individuals that are sepratists and start websites about the secession movement, etc. Heck, there are a few towns in Vermont that have publicly moved to secede to NH.

But, our state isn't doing that, just reminding all those congress critters and those that live in the White House what our rights are.

EDIT: Note that NH is on the list of states that have a standing call for a Constitutional Convention though.

Well, I'm certain that the succesion was a bad term to use. I believe that they are just trying to prove a point, but the resolution basically declares the Constitution null and void if one of the 6 "rules" are broken by the federal government, am I right?

the proceedings of the General Government under color of these articles, will be a fit and necessary subject of revisal and correction
Supporting CAPSmith's statement within this very text.

Not so much. It's not so much breaking the rules, but perhaps creating them. I found this excerpt particularly interesting in relation to your comment:

Quote:
therefore all acts of Congress which assume to create, define, or punish crimes, other than those so enumerated in the Constitution are altogether void, and of no force; and that the power to create, define, and punish such other crimes is reserved, and, of right, appertains solely and exclusively to the respective States, each within its own territory
What is being said is that if any body other than a state assumes a 'power' not specifically enumerated by the Constitution are not only complete and total garbage, but also illegal.

This is why I post here, everyone seems to be able to put these statements in plain old English especially for me.
