Default Can we use either?

Well, my AI called my house today to ask if I knew of any website for my specific battalion. I told him that I only knew of one and it was abandoned in 2001. After telling him this I started to do some research and found some info on my schools patches at http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil
I also found that there are two. Under each there is a name. The first of which is called the "Shoulder Sleeve Insignia," and the other is the, "Shoulder Loop Insignia." My school uses the first of which. Is there a difference between the two? Does one get used on a certain uniform? This would be so much easier if I could post a picture, if I white out my school's name can I post a picture of them?

The Shoulder Sleeve Insignia is commonly known as a unit patch.
The Shoulder Loop Insignia is commonly known as unit insignia; enlisted Army personnel wear this on their epaulets (the shoulder loops) on their Class A's and on the flash of their beret.

Thank you for clearing that up, I have seen unit insignias on berets, but not on epaulets.

I know it's hard to see, but on my profile picture (the one of me in Class A's), I have my unit insignia on my epaulets. The next time your instructors are in Class A's, you should see the insignia for Cadet Command on their uniforms, as DUI's (as they're called, abbreviated for Distinctive Unit Insignia) are worn by both enlisted and officer.
