Default Greetings from the Sea.

I haven't really posted on here in a while but I wanted to check in with everyone. Shipboard life is quite different. I've seen a lot of things and done a lot of things. It's not every day that you get to have the SECNAV come on board while deployed (pictures on Navy.mil).

If you guys have any questions about ship board life, PC's got my email address, feel free to write with your questions.

Well it's good to see that your having fun and working hard (or hardly working). Just earn your target badge (surface warfare) and have that OS3 rank in your mind. I'm praying that you come back safe and happy.

I'm actually waiting for the OS3 results to come out. Hopefully they'll be out in the next couple weeks. As for ESWS, isn't happening till we get back to homeport.
Brother am I working hard. Life as an OS isn't exactly a walk in the park sometimes.

SO you get it after this deployment (the ESWS)? Congratulations on OS3 (your gonna get it) once you sew it on then start thinking about) OS2 and then OS1 and then ultimately COS!!!! You can do it in 10 years, its not uncommon at all.

Sorry on the delay replying, I've been busy like crazy (cranking).

I won't be able to do anything with ESWS for a while, but as soon as I can start I'm going to. I know that the September cycle I should be able to test for OS2 if I make OS3 on this test. OS1 is hard to make and OSC is very hard. We had a first class that came on in like July who made OSC (he's an AIC). 10 year Chief? We'll see. You're thinking of like ETs and FCs.
Had a bit of a worry that I wouldn't do well on my PFA and yet thankfully I did (I need to improve my physical fitness even more though).

I know ET is electrical technichian but what is FC? And what do you mean by AIC? Is it hard to work-out on a ship?

AIC is an Air Intercept Controller. Like the guys on Top Gun who vectored Maverick and Goose to the MiG 28s. Those are OS AICs.

Finally going the right way for once. You gotta love cranking.
Anyone who goes into the Navy I'm going to tell you the one thing that the recruiters won't tell you. EVERYONE goes cranking. You're either going to be serving the food, doing the laundry, or cleaning the messdecks.
