Default Chuck Walker

Les Groshong let me know that his friend and fellow WWII Veteran Chuck Walker has passed away. Those of you who remember Les's stories will recall he used to talk alot about Mr. Walker. He was a Platoon Leader, and then a Company Commander with the 164th Infanty Regiment, and served on Guadalcanal among many other places during WWII.

Here is a little of the message Les sent me from Chuck's daughter:
Quote:
My dad, Charles Walker died the way he wanted to by just falling asleep. It wasn’t restful but he was in no pain. He died today at the VA hospital in Fargo, ND Oct 24 at 3:30pm of multiple problems: respiratory, congestive heart failure, and kidney complications. He was 89 and in the last year had just gotten worse each day. ...Services will be at 10:30am on the 7th here in Pembina, ND. ...

Thank you all for your prayers of no pain. He did not suffer at the end.
So sad to hear of the passing of another of our WWII Veterans.
The world is a much better place because of Chuck Walker.
May he rest peacefully.

And please say a few prayers for Chuck's widow, Hetty.
I know she will be lost without him.

So much history vanishes with the passing of these men. They truly are National Treasures.
