So I took the ASVAB a couple of weeks ago and got my score today. I got a 92 on it. I guess now if I decide to enlist I can pretty much do whatever I please.
Just out of curiosity, what did the rest of you get when you took it before you enlisted (for all the senior members) and those that haven't enlisted but have taken it. Or for the DEP'rs(won't leave you out DFL).

Thanks man, I made a 67. I had to enlist as 0311(with out 0321 contract) but I re-took it and got a 85 and qualified for 0321(MARSOC)contract.
I'm taking the test tomorrow...that'll be a blast. I have my last final exam tomorrow and then right when I think I'm free...I have to go take the ASVAB. What are the odds?

It is way easier than the one your Recruiter gives you or the one you take at MEPS.
What are you talking about? I am going to the recruiting office and then to MEPS to take it. Is there another way to take it elsewhere?

Yes thru your JROTC unit. Oh yeah you dropped JROTC, sorry forgot.
The SAI doesn't offer the ASVAB to us though. I asked him where I would have to go to take the test and he told me the recruiting station, and then my recruiter will take me down to the MEPS.

I got a 99 (my high school made everyone take it).

You don't take it through JROTC... your High School chooses to allow the administrators to come in and administer the test...
I've heard that the High School version was easier than the MEPS one.

99 when I took it back in 2001.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't 99 a perfect score. Wow, kudos to the both of you. I actually thought I did bad. Don't know why guess I just thought my answers were wrong but turned out I got a 92. My SAI actually saw my score before me and told me and I didn't believe him and laughed. Then I went and check and what do ya know, I got a good score. I was majorly surprised. Shows you that not all rednecks are completely dumb.

That's what my brother got (he's 2 years older than me) and I just rub it in his face even though I don't plan on enlisting anytime soon because I'm going to college first. I guess it's just bragging rights. For 3 years, until the scores expire (lol).
88 isn't bad though. I was told that above an 80 (I think that's it), it becomes unlimited. To where you can do any job you like. I think that is what I heard from the recruiter.

Honestly once you get in, ASVAB scores really don't matter. They aren't going to give you a leg up for promotions and they aren't going to impress anybody in your unit. You just need to make sure you score high enough for the career field you want, after that you might as well toss them out the window.
Well the test was exciting...I will find out what I scored by Monday.

Yea, I'm not enlisting. I'm either going to the USMA or ROTC. So my scores really don't matter now anyways. Just means the recruiters are going to call me more now.

I got an 81. Considering I had a terrible head cold that day, I think it was pretty good.

Yeah, I plan on going to USMA/ROTC as well, so is there any point in taking the ASVAB in that case?

Not really, just gives you options if you dont follow plan A. Or you can use it for test practice. I was just curious of what I would score.

I got a 36, why you ask? I got a 36 three years ago when I first took it through my school, Year after that I got a 63, Year after that, 84, and year after that 82, and when I went to enlist at meps, I was going to take it again, and when I get to meps, they told me I was bared from taking it for 6 months, So I said ok, and went on to enlist, unknowing I was enlisting with a 36, until I signed and had my para/line into my unit, In short if your lost, for some reason in mepcoms computers it deleted all my other scores and put them as zeros, and only my 36 was vaild, even though it was past the two year mark, But its cool, all I wanted to do was get infantry, and well I more then qualified for that lol

Army_grunt_11B, lets have a Air-internet high five.......YYYYYEEEEEAAAAHHHH..... that's what I'm talking about UNDERACHIEVEING, hahaha I'm just joking man. I thought the exact same thing until my recruiter whispered in my ear you have to get a 110 on the GT portion to even qualify for a MARSOC contract, I started sweating.

It is pretty complex if you don't get the concept or don't know anything about the ASVAB.

The physical you have to take to show you're medically qualified for Military service? And because that's the day I turn 17 =)..

So I'm guessing your taking your test while at MEPS? Because you don't take a physical in order to take the test.

If anyone knows the chart to calculate a General Technical score... uh... I have my ASVAB scores here... so I want to know what I qualify for. I think it's over 115 actually...

Yes can someone explain how to calculate the GT score? I believe it is Sum of Word Knowledge and Paragraph Comprehension (VE) and Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), correct?

Has anyone took the time to look for themselves or asked a recruiter or someone who commonly works with the scores how they are processed?

Yeah, that's where I get my answers, by researching first before posting...some other forums I am a member of strongly discourage and sometimes even ban members for asking multiple questions with answers that can be found in about 2 seconds by Googling the question or have already been answered on the forum and can be found by a simple forum search.

That is what I posted and I just wanted to double check. No disrespect, but I asked if it was correct after looking it up. This is much more convenient to ask here then go to the recruiter center.

My posting the link was directed at C./Fields comment about how he researches and whatnot. If I misunderstood what he was saying, that's my bad. As far as your question, yes what you said was correct.

I just took the ASVAB this Tuesday at MEPS and I got a 96. I had never taken a practice test before and I had like a week to prepare. Needless to say I almost passed out when I saw the score :D

The GT is Verbal expression and Arithmetic Reasoning so if you score good on those your set.

25B: Sir, I already knew how to calculate my GT score... but what I could never find was what they used to calculate your Verbal Expression Score... and I've never been able to get close enough to a recruiter to talk to them about it.
