I give a "Happy Turkey Day" to all the members on this board, and a toast to all those who are no longer with us. Let us remember what we are thankful for on this day, and to never take these moments with our families for granted.

God bless all the Veterans on this site, and future service men and women.

Don't eat too much!

Happy thanksgiving indeed. Why does this holiday always feel like the Indians last meal? It was pretty much downhill for them after this one act of kindness. Oh well. If they really didnt want us to slaughter them and take their land, they should have invented rifles and a cure for smallpox.

But enough of the Jack speaking...

Thanksgiving has been one of those distant holidays for me that last 7 years. Here is what I have been up to all those years for Turkey day..

2002- Operation Southern watch/OEF-Persian gulf
2003- ROK
2004- IRAQ
2005-Germany
2006- Parris Island
2007-Iraq
2008- Okinawa

I have a feeling that I will be watching Dallas play on Afn in Afghanistan next year. Whatever. Enjoy your turkey. I have another half bottle of Jack to finish.

I hate the holidays.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! The fixings are fixed, the table is set, and all that's left to do is watch the turkey cook; which gives me some more time to think about all the things I have to be thankful about including all the wonderful people in this forum. When I think of all those who have served this country honorably from our founding fathers through today, I can't help but feel every day is Thanksgiving. From the bottom of my heart, Thank You for all you have done and are doing.

This was the first Thanksgiving Day dinner I got to have in the traditional sitdown deal around the table with friends since 1992!! Sure I've had Turkey Day in the Army in lands away, they were great, but this was special.

A friend/customer of mine lived in the States for about 9 years and got into the Thanksgiving thing. She made a fantastic turkey, stuffing pumpkin pies, had cramberry sauce, they whole nine yards. The only thing she didn't have was the yams. I gave a call to an Air Force Major currently serving with the African Command in Stuttgart. He sent me 3 cans of yams which none of the Danish people here had every tried. They all liked them - Thanks MAJOR for making the meal complete.

Happy Thanksgiving Day to All!!

This one was a special Thanksgiving for me as well. I had a chance to get to know some of my nephews and neices whom I had never met before. The food was good, the stories were plentiful and we topped all of it off with a nice hay ride on the farm I used to work on as a kid. Brought back a lot of memories.

I hope everyone had a great day.

Normally, the US Army tries to serve it's troops a hot traditional meal on this day. There was none of that, for my platoon on Thanksgiving Day 1968. As we took a break on some high ground, I opened the tin of turkey-loaf I had been saving and a tin of peaches which were hard to come by. After finishing my turkey, I reached for the small can of peaches in my cargo pocket and found a neat little bullet hole had ruined my desert. The things we remember, on this day..
To those this day in similar places and to you my Friends, Happy Thanksgiving! I count you as one of my many Blessings..
