Well, since we're going to be starting over here I thought maybe we should introduce ourselves again. As for me, this year I'm a Junior in High School and an AS-3 Cadet. I'm on my unit's Drill Team, Color Guard Team, Saber Guard, and I'm the Charlie Flight Commander. As for the Grunt forum, I've been here for a little over a year now and I really like talking to the people here. That's about it for me.

I'd been on the Cadet Forum since Aug '06, and had well over 600 posts there. Starting over fresh is good, but this is too fresh for me...I came in the military as a PFC, so this PVT stripe has got to go! LOL

Lol, with your service I'd say you deserve more than one stripe! ;) Anyway, how do I activate the rank avatar you get for post count on this forum?

Go to the User CP, and on the left side select "Group Memberships". From there, join your choice group (only one, it messes things up when you join more), then you need to tell it to display you as a member of that group versus the default group, and the rank insignia is there.

Ok thanks, I appreciate it, Sir.

How did you get the Silver Valor Award?

I was on a bakcpacking trip with my Boy Scout Troop and one of the younger scouts tore a tendon in his knee, making him unable to walk. Another scout and myself hiked the 9.5 miles out at night through a thunderstorm and with 30 pound packs on to get a helicopter rescue. We made it in just 3.5 hours! We couldn't even find the trail most of the time. When I got back my SASI submitted the application for the award and I got it in January.

Wow, that's awesome man! Good job and that's some fast moving to get 9.5 miles down in only 3 and a half hours, in a thunderstorm! I've never met anyone with the silver or gold valor so this is pretty cool. But good job, great job...

Thanks. When we got down we spent over an hour being transferred from one 911 call center to another:mad: before finally getting our point across that this guy was hurt and needed a helicopter.
The guy was evaced, had surgery and flew home the next day.

It happens, for some reason our police force and emergency response communications aren't very efficient, some of the time. So the guy was OK? No major or sustaining injury?

The guy is just fine. At the beginning of this year he was wrestling and playing baseball again.

The problem with the 911 was that during our hike out we crossed a county border and so they were all trying to decide whose problem it was. The county we were camped in was so small that they transferred all of their night calls to a different county. You can see where problems could arise in that!

Nope. He is still in 8th grade, but he is thinking about going to my high school next year and I'll try to get him in the corps.

I am AMarine'sLittleGrunt (AMLG for short). You guys may have known me as TheAFJROTCKid on the other side of the forums.

I am a Junior this year, and just received promotion to Cadet 1st Lieutenant as of SLS graduation. I am the flight Commander of Alpha Flight. It is the smallest flight. But yet, it is one of the best flights.
May is coming around the corner quicker than expected. Heh. And that will be the time that I join the United States Marine Corps, just like my brother. I will hopefully be serving 10 years active duty, and after I retire from there I plan on opening up my own restaurant. I just recently was offered a job as a chef for my Culinary Arts Instructors Catering business, so I am pretty happy with that. JROTC has taught me how to express more of myself and not rely on others to "baby" you. It has also taught me Leadership, in which I am still in the process of becoming. Well, if anyone has any questions for myself, do not hesitate to ask.

Hi,
I introduced myself in the main forum, but figured I'd introduce myself here. I have been in CAP for 5 years. I'm a C/Col in the program and a member of the National Cadet Advisory Council representing NCR. In my time thus far, I've earned two commanders commendations from the national commander, a livesaving ribbon with silver star, attended and staffed numerous encampments, traveled to New Zealand with International Air Cadet Exchange, and much more. I'm also finishing up my Certified Flight Instructor ASEL and currently hold Airplane Single and Multi Engine Land/Instrument/Commercial. I'm a Senior at the University of North Dakota majoring in Commercial Aviation. As some of you may or may not know, CAP allows its members to remain cadets until age 21. I'm down to less than a year as a cadet until I cross over as a Captain to the adult program. If you have any questions about CAP, feel free to shoot me an email. Check out NCAC at www.ncac.us .

Welcome Aboard Tony! Also, do you mean Saber Team? (Just out of curiosity) PM me the answer so as not to get off topic. I have never heard it been called a "Sword Team." But hey, once again; Welcome to the forums if you are new. :)

Well hey all!
Some of y'all may remember me as MarineCadet from the cadet section on the old forums and the cadet forum. I don't say too much unless I see reason to, but generally prefer to observe, and help where I can.
I was in MCJROTC and 2 different AFJROTC units when I was in high school, as well as the USNSCC, where I was also a Midshipman once I completed the cadet program. I took a year of AROTC before enlisting in the United States Air Force as an A1C in Security Forces. I earned the title of Airman on 9/11 and carry my coin everywhere. I look forward to frequenting this and the main forum section.

PhoenixCadet here. I was a member of the old forum, for those who remember me. I posted on both the military-side, as well as the Cadet-side, on which I was an Air Force section moderator. I joined over there in September of '05, and haven't posted since earlier this year due to website problems I had with accessing the Grunt's domain.

I'm a high school junior, and a Civil Air Patrol Cadet. I've been in the CAP for the past 4 years (October of '04) and have recently chartered a new school program squadron at my high school (at which I'm now the Cadet Commander of).

I had hoped to go in the Marines after college, on active duty, that is - but a recent medical diagnoses I had came with some information that I might not be able to go in. I figured my condition was non-waiverable, but in recent findings, that's not the case.

With that said, my future hopefuls involve college (majoring in something computer-related), then either commissioning in the Marine Corps Reserve or the Army National Guard, and securing a civilian-side career as a police officer with the Port Authority Police Department of NY & NJ.

If you've got any questions for me, feel free to drop me a line.

Hi all, I am a new member on Grunt's! Just signed up today, but have been in JROTC for three years now and currently on Key Staff until graduation. I've been to Honor's Camp. At my JROTC Unit, I oversee all activities since I am Vice Commander. I am mostly looking around, and will start/post in a few more forums here and there for advice to bring to my Unit.

Awesome site - keep it up!

Hey, I'm a junior in high school, and an AS-III cadet. I'm a c/1st Lt, was a c/Capt. but due to unit restructuring we all went down in rank. I'm the Charlie Flight and Drill Team commander. On teams I' command most of the regulation drill (outside of color guard but I am a member) and our exhibition duet. Um yea that's about it... Just thought I'd say hey...
