Ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted a career as a Navy Officer. Therefore, I decided to join the NROTC program when I graduated. However, my high school doesn't offer the NJROTC program...:(
So, I've contacted a few people and I'm hoping to get one started. Any advice? Is this a hopeless cause?

Does it offer any branch of JROTC? If it does then you won't get any of the other branches. My suggestion: join the JROTC even if it's a branch you don't want to go into, it won't effect getting into NROTC.

All I can say is the same as flyboy, join the current JROTC program if you have one. If not, the best course of action would be to obtain an interest in the school as a whole, or at least a good portion, and then talk with your principal directly. Your principal and/or administration of the school will know what needs to be done and how to apply for one.

I say the same thing as Flyboy but I also want to commend you on your descision of wanting to be a Naval Officer.

I want to be a Naval Officer as well!
There is another program you could join instead of NJROTC. It is called the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (seacadets.org). This is kind of like NJROTC but we wear different Navy uniforms and only drill twice a month.
Sound boring? The big selling point of the NSCC (Naval Sea Cadet Corps) is the sheer number of field trips and trainings. I've already shaken hands with 4 Admirals and 3 full Commanders! Also been to Fleet Week, Marine Major Pescoli's retirement, RADM Andrews' retirement, and many more!
Also, during the summer and winter breaks, you can participate in advanced trainings! First of all you have to get through a 2 week recruit training (boot camp), then you have a plethora of Navy "A" Schools that you can go to, from Mass Communications to Naval Intelligence to Scuba to EOD to Field Ops to SeaBee to SEAL to Airman to Vehicle Maintenance to Cook Training! A full list is hidden somewhere on compass.seacadets.org
Again, the recruiting website is on seacadets.org
If you are interested, click the "Request More Info" button and the CO of the unit closest to you will call/email you.
Sorry, just had to start recruiting. :p

Don't get your hopes up, they discharge you from the program on your 18th birthday (the latest any unit will keep you is the October after you graduate high school, which may be too late depending on when you ship out for Boot Camp)...and you need to attend a bootcamp before doing any advanced trainings. You must be pushing 18 to be able to enlist in the USMC, so check that stuff out before you decide to call a Sea Cadet representative. I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want you getting all excited just to find out that you can't do it.

Well I wished I'd know about Young Marines,NSCC, and CAP when I was a freshman. It would help me in Basic and my early career in the Marine Corps. I just want to say I'm a NSCC SEal,Diver or EOD crewman. Is it hard to get selected for those "A" schools?

You've got two years in JROTC anyway! Can't you join any branch at E-3, now?

All you do is sign up. SEALs, SWCC, and EOD require the applicant to take the Seal Physical Fitness Test in order to be eligible to attend. You may need to purchase some gear ahead of time as well (swim fins, swim mask, etc.).

No I highest you can make with JROTC,CAP,NSCC, and Young Marine experience in the Marine Corps is E-2. There's only a couple of ways to make E-3 out of basic in the Marine Corps. Thanks alot Seminarian_Tim, I can so get in, do I have to go to a special training?

You have to go to Recruit Training. It's offered mostly in the summer, although some places like Florida and California offer it in the winter. You can either attend a nine day or a fourteen day Recruit Training depending on where you go. Go to www.seacadets.org and contact a local unit. You'll need to enroll with them before going to bootcamp. Also, the trainings you want to go to require that you make Seaman in the program. That takes about a year to do with a few correspondence courses and at least one training besides bootcamp.
EDIT: Drill, shoot me a PM if you have any other questions. There's no point in clogging up a thread with personal questions.
I was also in Sea Cadets if anyone has any questions; it's a quality program.

I just contacted the CO at the Bee Stinger battalion close to my house. I can't wait. How much does each uniform cost on average(Jumpers"aka" Crackerjacks,Utilities).

That depends on how good of a supply department your unit has. Some units can fully outfit cadets for a small "sea bag" fee, others (like mine) can't do a whole lot and you may end up going to an Army-Navy surplus store or the local Naval base to get what you need from the NEX.

What is a "Sea Bag Fee"? I have neer heard of that before. If they cannot sell them to me thru my unit I can always go to the Army/Navy Surplus store near my house and get most of the items there.

A complete Sea Bag is Navy jargon for a full set of clothing. So a fee for a Sea Bag would be a fee that covers all your uniforms and accompanying insignia.

Oh would that cover badges, ribbons, etc. I looked into the NSCC Seal"A" school and I really think I'll be able to complete it and come into my senior year wearing a trident.:D

Get through Sea Cadet Boot Camp and one Advanced Training. Once you put on your Seaman stripes, then start thinking about applying to Sea Cadet SEALs. Would you mind taking this to PM? I don't want to clog up the thread with our personal conversation.

Thats fine. What is Advanced Training, is that like training for Surface Warfare of something along that nature?

I'm locking the thread. It has been asked multiple times to take this conversation to PM, however that request seems to be ignored, so without further ado (sp?)...
