So, I was watching this clip from Goldeneye w/ a deleted scene in it, and became curious:

Who else here likes the James Bond movies? Which is your favorite? Who was your favorite Bond? Bond girl?

I personally think Goldeneye comes in as my favorite movie. I like the story line, and the fact that it was the first movie that Pierce Brosnan played Bond (he's my favorite, with Sean Connery comming in second). Second favorite movie, The World is Not Enough, and third, Tomorrow Never Dies.

I almost forgot to metion that I think it'd be pretty dang awesome to pull off one of those bungee jumps he does in the beginning. Sad thing is, though - it's in Europe, and it costs a lot of money.

Least favorite: Casino Royale.

Worst acting ever, and the car he had was ridiculous. No machine guns, missiles, shotguns? Just a handgun and a defibrillator?

Favorite: Die Another Day.

Nice plot, good action scenes. Nice V12 Vanquish.

Favorite: From Russia with Love

Least Favorite: Casino Royal (a blond James Bond? are you kidding me?)

Favorite Bond Girl: Claudine Auger (Thunderball) or Halle Berry (Die Another Day, I think, but its been a while).

The thing I miss about the new movies is that there is almost no humor whatsoever. It's WAY to serious, Q doesn't exist anymore, Bond is not as sophisticated (just a ruthless killer, really), and there are no gadgets and stuff...

What made it Bond is not present in the new movies. The newest one (Quantum of Solace) is pretty much about a guy with a gun who wants revenge...

I don't like Pierce Brosnan as James Bond(nothing about him just the movies). Almot everyone of James Bond movies Pierce Brosnan starred in had the USSR in it. To me those movies didn't have originality. My two cents.

The idea with Casino Royale was to re-launch the series. I think they made a good choice in doing what they did. In all honesty I prefer the seriousness of the newer movies and the fact that they do not have all of the gadgets. Remember Casino Royale is his first mission as 007 and that Quantum of Solace picks up a half hour after Casino Royale Ends. You can't really expect sophistication and experience to come immediately. As for his ruthlessness, the guy fell in love and then watched her die, so the revenge part is understandable.

I am a Bond fan. I've seen them all including Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. I think that the latest two do a great job of sticking to the original Bond character. Bond is intended to be a "dark" character, he has a lot of internal conflict.

Many of the previous movies adhered to the typical "action hero" type of bond, focusing on the womanizing/love for fine things side of Bond, but never really addressed the character that Fleming intended.

I think the latest two are doing a great job of sticking to that original character intent.

I do think that the Quantum of Solace plot was a little thin, but the Bond character came alive. Personally, I think it is just a transition movie for the next one.
