Hey all, my school is having a Veterans day parade and a fellow cadet and I were chosen to wear the MARPAT in Woodland(me) and Desert(fellow cadet) and i was wondering how to wear it properly and if you have any tips to make it look as sharp as possible (i.e. sleeve rolling technique or tutorial (because i am horrible at this) or make the hat look nice etc..etc..)
Many thanks,
C/CPT Hazard

Why are Air Force cadets going to wear the MARPAT? The two of you should be wearing ABU's.

Actually Headquarters AFJROTC doesn't issue ABU's or BDU's to Cadets. Cadets are authorized to wear them, however a set of ABUs is roughly $200+ dollars, and the woodland BDU is being phased out. Still doesn't explain why they'd wear the MARPAT though.

Why are you wearing the uniform that My friends have fought for, lived for , and eventually died for. I pray you don't wear them because if you do your going to get what you deserve, a good chewing out by a Marine,Active duty, reserve, and /or veteran. I don't think any JROTC should be able to wear active duty unioforms. Your SASI shoul dlet you wear DCU's,BDU's,Blues, and maybe and I stress maybe ABU's. TO answer your question.
1. How to roll sleeves.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mBszawQYYA
This I how I roll them up USMC/USN sleeve's when I wear DCU's.
2. Iron the hat, put a Roll of Toilet paper in the hat a iron on the creases, or buy the permaneant mold.
Are you guys going to wear a AFJROTC patch over theleft pocket? Are you going to wear your AFJROTC rank on the lapels?

Oh forgot, DON'T ROLL THE SLEEVES. It is not time, it is fall the Marine Corps has switched to Rolled Down sleeves. If you roll up the Sleeves on the MARPATS you'll be out of regulaiton.

I understand your confusion and or displeasure. I am to wear the MARPAT for no other occasion except for the Veterans Day Parade. That is why i asked this question in order to represent proper uniform wear and standards/regulations to represent the Marines correctly and honor them as much as possible. I take this very seriously and am very honored to wear this uniform and i cannot stress this enough.
P.S. No Patches are worn on it, the Marines and Name tapes have been removed so all thats left is the EGA under the the left breast pocket and on the cap (along w/ the small EGA's printed throughout the unifom.)

:mad:HOW DID YOU GET THAT UNIFORM, THE MARPATS,THE OFFFICIAL MARPATS WITH SMALL EGA ARE TP WOR BY ACTIVE DUTY,RESERVE MARINES, MCJROTC DOESN'T EVEN WEAR THOSE. Please don't wear them, Wear your Air Force BLues or something like that.
Drill,
I'm going to strongly encourage you to calm down before a moderator gets ahold of you. You've been told numerous times to get a grip (on yourself, and better posting habits), yet you don't listen.
Listen. Now.

With that said, I would like to echo to the OP that you shouldn't wear MARPAT for Veterans Day. Wear your JROTC uniform. If it's a function at your school - it shouldn't be a problem. If it's not a function at your school, I wouldn't see a problem in one of your ASI's giving you permission, as long as you follow the regs and present a professional image in public.
The Marine MARPAT uniform is considered a "controlled item" in it's offical form (with the little EGA's on it), and thus - would be illegal to wear even if you didn't have any ranks, tapes or anything of the like on it. You haven't earned the right to wear a Marine uniform, and wearing that one, when you've got the right to wear a JROTC uniform, will just make you reek of 'poser'.
Stick with your JROTC uniform. A service uniform would be much more professional, anyway - over a utility uniform.

Sorry, about that. I am mad how a Cadet get's to wear a uniform that three of my frinds have died wearing and earned. You have not earned a EGA so why should you be able to wear MARPATS with EGA imprinted in them?

I respect that. I do have a suggetsion for you. Find your local MCSRS(Marine Corps Sub-Recruiting Station) and ask them if you can wear them. Bring the uniform and everything you where issued with them. Where you issued tan boots with them?

AT EASE, CADETS!
Now that you have shown your six, consider it kicked. All of you need to go back and edit your posts to conform to the standards as required by our Rules of Engagement. No if's, and's, or but's. No excuses. This type of behavior WILL cease and desist right now. AM I CLEAR?

If you don't want cadets wearing Active Duty uniforms then I guess you will be saving yourself 7 hours a week. What about your regular Army 1sg chevrons? Pretty sure thats out of regs and possibly illegal(impersonating). I understand you being upset but you shouldnt jump on him about it when you yourself havent earned the EGA either and are not in the military(dep isnt anything, just means your waiting for a job and a diploma). Only advice would be to chill.

ALL RIGHT CADETS...settle down
I know I am not a moderator...but one of you wishes to wear MY uniform. Here are the rules: Camouflage Utilities are NOT PERMITTED to be worn in public, the only time they are worn is on a Military Installation or when executing Official Duties.
Secondly, if you do decide to wear them (and I hope you do not) wear them right, it is woodlands, sleeves down (unless you are deployed where woodlands aren't practical). In addition, regarding the tan boots, we wear the same boots with both uniforms.
QUESTIONS?
Oh that HEB was here to render a proper a$$ chewing.
Mod: request close, the question has been answered.

O-kay kiddies, circle up and listen up. You were requested to fall back and edit your posts by a Moderator. Many of you have chosen to ignore that 'request'. This bodes ill for you here and in the future, should you be fortunate enough to be allowed to serve - especially in my Marine Corps.
Marines do not wear 'hats' and we certainly do not wear 'caps' - anything a Marine wears on his dome that is not a helmet is a 'cover': Sailors and civilians wear 'hats', Marines and sh*tcans wear 'covers'. The utility cover is starched - over a tubular metal form topped with a curved octagonal plate - to the point that if someone is hit with it, the skin will tear, bone may break, but the cover will not deform.
All Marpat will be worn with tan, roughout boots laced identically, left over right. Marpat - the latest evolution of the utility uniform - is a working uniform, not parade dress. It is worn with the trousers bloused between the top and second lace hole of the boot - not tucked into the boot. Unless in a combat or other 'high risk' situation, it will be starched to the same consistency as the cover, and woe betide the pogue whose creases are not sharp - and even - enough to shave with. And in the Old Corps, rolling up the sleeves under any circumstances was enough to merit a rather terse and unpleasant interview with the Company Gunny - and you haven't seen p*ssed until you've seen a Gunny 'counsel' a butt-nugget who wears his uniform in an improper, non-reg manner.
Finally, while your CO may have good intentions, he is wrong - my Eagle, Globe and Anchor will be earned before it is worn. High school kids have not earned it, AFJROTC cadets have not earned it. Marines are perfectly capable of wearing our own uniforms, and if there is no Marine unit, no Marine ROTC unit, no Marine JROTC unit available for your parade, do without, and seek to have one commissioned or relocated. If you have 'earned' the right to any uniform, it is the one your unit seeks to emulate. If your CO lacks the pride to have everyone in his unit wear it, and wear it with pride, then the 'problem' should be obvious.

And Cadet.... You have not earned the right to dress down ANY other Cadet. You are a Delayed Enlisted. Big Deal. That does NOT make YOU a Marine. You've had friends die. SO? We have all had friends die. I had a flashback from an incident the other day form well over 30 years ago about a friend’s death that I saw with my own eyes.
Enough of this...
There ARE regulations around wear of the Uniform. Let me say this. Veteran’s day is NOT Halloween! Cadets should NOT be wearing any Active Duty Uniforms. It is NOT OK for the SASI's Son to allow this. He does not have the "Authority" for does your instructors.
