Strange patch placement

I have attached a photo I came across of an Army Chief Warrant Officer wearing a patch in a strange location, above the right breast pocket of the ACU's. I have conducted extensive research but could not find information as to why he would be wearing a patch in this location. Does anyone here know what this patch is, or why it is positioned where it is?

It is his Squadron patch. Most Army Aviation Squadrons have them.

And he is probably wearing the A2CU (http://peosoldier.army.mil/factsheets/SEQ_CIE_A2CU.pdf)
