My favorite has to be the M4A3 Sherman. I love the fact that it played such a major roll in winning WWII. I also love the armament it has every thing from the 75mm to 105mm main gun, the .50 cal AA and the hull and coaxial mounted .30s. :mp:

My favorite would have to be the Tiger II or King Tiger. It had 25-180 mm armor, 88mm cannon and 2 7.9mm machine guns. The King Tiger could beat the Sherman any day. The only thing the Shermans had were numbers.

My favorite would have to be the Tiger II or King Tiger.

The downfall of the Tiger was its weight (also that it was so technologically advanced for that time, and the Germans didn't have the cash to build them in enough numbers to affect the outcome of the war).

FAV baby! Who doesn't like a dune buggy with weapons? I mean really! 3 man crew with a driver, front gunner (usually an M249 SAW or even a grenade launcher), and back gunner (usually a .50 HMG or a M60). Also the ability to mount LAW rockets on the sides. Whats not to love (outside of the minimal protection)?

The M1A2 Abrams SEP with TUSK.

What? It's a 70 ton Tank armed with a 120mm Smoothbore Cannon with a remote-controlled turret at the top, upgraded side armor, improved fire control systems, slat armor, and thermal sights!

The Challenger 2 comes in at a close second... it can track and fire upon a moving target the size of a football three miles away!

US Vehicle - M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle (Of course I am biased, since I went to the Bradley Leader Course)

Non-US Vehicle - BMP-3 - I got a chance to mess around with one and although the interior was a death trap, the chasis and armerment were pretty amazing.

German Made MJ-1 Bomb Lift Truck. Same design as the American version but with an Air Cooled VW Beetle 1200 cc motor and the sweetest syncromesh gearbox! I got clocked doing 40 MPH down the flightline at Lechfeld AB, Germany with one of those. Had my Jammer license pulled until we got back home after that one! LMAO!

MHU-83, bigger and badder. I'm also partial to the C-10, but that's just me. ;)

The MHU-83 is bigger and badder, but it's slower and more cumbersome. Might handle a bit better due to the weight, and you can always get a wider front (or is it back) track width with the outriggers opened up. LOL!

I can imagine there are few here that even know what we're talking about Mark! LOL!

For me it would have to be the C-130 Hercules. Its so old but it still is the perfect transport aircraft, oh, and that hum! Here in Albuquerque we hear that graceful hum EVERY night as the C-130's take off from Kirtland AFB into the night sky. :D

My favorite vehicle is the Ontos because there is really nothing else like it.

Also, I don't think the PzV /VI /VIb were all that great. They had low efficiency low-compression gasoline engines of enormous size. German WWII veterans have consistently said that they were constantly running out of fuel after Barbarossa. German engineering was also inferior because they often over-engineered things. This reduced production and gained nothing. In '43 the German Army had a huge internal fight over Stugs. They were made for the infantry but the armoured guys 'stole' them. The Stugs were fuel efficient and the long 75 (model g and later) had good armour penetration. It seem to me that the Stug III was more important than the fancy tanks.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the Panther was the world's fattest medium tank. At 100,000 pounds it weighed more than the heavy Pershing. Of course the Pershings with their floating 90mm rifle would tear Panthers to pieces.

How would you rate a Tiger Logistically? It has got to weigh 125,000 pounds and it had a gigantic low-efficiency, low-compression gasoline engine.

The PzVIb is a heavy tank optimized for tankfighting. The Sherman was a medium tank intended to be an infantry support vehicle. It is not useful to compare them. How does the PzVIb compare to an M-26 Pershing or that M-36 whatchacallit tank destroyer?

The way I see it is when it comes to tanks its difficult to get a good fuel consumption rate. I mean even current technology isn't helping too much. The Abrams takes 7 or so gallons just to start!

Putting a jet turbine in the Abrams was not done to improve fuel economy. They wanted to make a fast heavy tank. Its diesel predecessors were far more fuel efficient but also much much slower.

During WWII, on the Eastern Front, fuel was in very short supply and the Germans had to use smaller vehicles like PzIVs and StugIIIs to do most jobs. Tigers and Panthers were good tactically but must have been horrible to support.

An interesting design from that period is the M18 Gun Motor Carriage. It was light, fast, and fuel efficient. The specifications look terrible; 40,000 pounds, 1/2" armour and 76mm gun. It appears to be no match for a 100,000 pound Panther and yet the M18 destroyed Panthers by the kiloton. The M18 crews seem to have loved this vehicle. It is worth looking into how all this was possible but I have no more information than what is here.

Don't forget that the top speed of any tank without fuel is zero, unless you tow it.

I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I think it was a good one. To add to the list, my favorite vehicle is the M2A3 Bradley. Between the main gun and the TOW missiles, I love having this baby at my back.

M109A6 Paladin (Self-propelled howitzer).

M284 Cannon firing 155mm rounds
Between 22,000m & 30,000m (20+ miles) range
Approximately 28 tons combat loaded
Less than a minute from travel to fire mission.
"Shoot and scoot" tactics; not even the M777 can say that.

If I had to give up the Paladin, I'd go with the Panzerhaubitze 2000.
In my not so humble opinion, the XM1203 can go off itself... damn video game POS.

Chrysler Stratus, without a doubt the finest TMP vehicle in the fleet.

Of course, for TDY (especially in Hawaii), you can't beat the Sebring rag top.

When I was on AEF 9 in Baghdad, we had an awesome GSA vehicle we used to call "the cadillac". I forget what make it was- I think it was a toyota.

Second to that, I always thought the M38 Jeep was super classy.

Favorite vehicle? The freedom bird. I have no idea what make or model it was, but it didn't matter:inlove:

13B warrior, you're missing all the fun. You should spend a little time on the old split trails. (heh)
