Meet Mr. G. Gordon Liddy.

He masterminded the break in at the Watergate Building, and as a Kid, he supported Hitler.

After the break in, he was sent to prison, and in 1998, held a fundraiser for McCain, and has donated $1,000 dollars to the McCain Campaign.

McCain's position on Gordon Liddy:

I know Gordon Liddy. He paid his debt. He went to prison and paid his debt, as people do. I'm not in any way embarrassed to know Gordon Liddy.

Just to say, everyone has some bad connections. :P

So, this is my problem:

Why is everyone blowing a gasket over Obama and a Vietnam-era Radical, when McCain has connections to a theif who raided the Democratic Convention's headquarters?

Because, one paid his debt to society and presumably repented for his actions and one has not. The later has in fact stated in a NYT article published on Sept 11, 2001 that he believed they hadn't done enough.

Something else to think about, one hosted the start of the political career of one candidate for POTUS in his living room, the other didn't. But that is a discussion for another day.
