After years of faithful service, we have officially retired the previous Grunt Forum to upgrade and enhance the software and ultimately provide a much-improved online military community for all of our members, past present and future.
If you were a member of the previous forum, chances are you'll notice a few similarities to the new setup but also quite a number of enhancements. For one, members' "public profiles" now offer an incredible amount of customization and include quick and easy links to personal photo albums, "friends" lists, user statistics, visitor messages, and much more!
We've kept a few things from the "old" forum as well; namely the customized smilie-icons and the rank insignia for individual branches that members can choose to correspond to their forum post count. Please see this thread (http://www.gruntsmilitary.com/board/showthread.php?t=40) for details on our tweaks to the post count rank requirements.
In addition to some of the more obvious changes, I'm sure all of you will find a number of more subtle but equally useful features in this new forum; advanced email notifications, bbcode, and a robust system for attaching images to posts, just to name a few.
I hope that everyone has as much fun exploring the new forum as we have. Speaking of which, I want to extend a special thanks to all of our Moderators and Cadet Moderators as well as everyone who helped us build, test, and tweak the new forum to its current state.
