Anyone here have trouble with tucking your shirts in and keeping them in? I USED to have that problem until I discovered Shirt Garters. I now look AWESOME and not to mention profesional in my CAP uniform while wearing them as it keeps the shirt tucked in and unwrinkled. Heres a picture:

I have some better ones that I used for my blues. Instead of clipping onto your socks like those do, then actually have a loop that you put your foot through. This eliminates the possibility of them popping off your sock and I find them to be much more comfortable.

These are definately a must for every cadet. They make a significant difference. They are the best and nearly the only way to have a representable military tuck. Here is the catch--we ladies cannot wear them with skirts.

I absolutely agree, I required the entire armed drill platoon to have them for inspection and for competition. It makes the uniforms look much more professional.

I prefer the singles as I can attach them to the front of my shirt which looks difficult with the "Y" garters. But yeah. I believe that by the rank of C/MSgt. Cadets should already be using them.......

Well thats where most cadets after hitting the ROTC level wear the Princess shirts with the skirts instead of the standard 1620 shirt.

LOL, you sound like a salesman. I don't use them, I don't seem to have much of a problem with it, unless there is a lot of sitting and standing and back to sitting, stuff like that. I plan on buying some so thanks for the links.

Shirts get very interesting for females. There are five different types of authorized shirts. The "princess" style is the older style. The "tuck-in" is the newer style. So if you have the new style jacket (which I'm guessing all of ROTC does)--although the regs do not care which shirt you wear--the tuck in is designed to go with the new uniform. Here is how you tell the difference easily:
Belt loops - New Style - Tuck In (looks sweet with uniformity cause the girls have nice shiny belts showing just like the guys)
No Belt Loops - Old Style - Princess - some really, really old style princess have an elastic loop at the first button and a splotch of velcro for the tie tab

I have an idea. I'm going to post before and after pic's of me wearing my CAP uniform with and without shirt garters. Bear with me people! :)

I currently wear 6 shirt stays at a time. I don't like them for one reason, they mess up my crease's. I spend two hours on my Sharp and I mean Sharp creases and I put my shirt stays on and they just become flat. I am really interested in this "Shirt Garter Belt" it's like shirt stays but it keeps your crease looking like you just ironed them.

If anyone does buy shirt garters - I'd personally recommend the type soccermark mentioned above. (I use them myself.)
Funny - a cadet of mine in CAP, not too long ago, was going through a review board. I was on the board, along with other command staff. He was sitting before us, and when asked to stand for a quick uniform inspection, he stood and immediately got this look on his face like he had just seen a ghost. Turns out one of the clips on his garters broke, and due to the extreme tightness of them, rebounded upwards like a rubber band... and you get the rest of the story.
If you do decide to use the clip-versions, however... I salute you.

You want overkill, just talk to this guy! LOL
Seriously though, why on earth would you need 6 shirt stays!?

"Dude, that's tight." Literally. I'd expect that shirt to rip in half from the tension. There's enough hold with those things to keep a telephone pole in the ground.

Question is; who doesn't fear me?
So wrinkles will fear him. His mastery of the shirt stay is legendary! Wrinkles run from his elastic strapping holding his socks up. Creases cringe in his presence. They tried to enlist the assistance of SGT Lint, but he refused to help due to the amount of masking tape in the AOR.

I wish I had the time to spend two hours on creases alone. A substitute for shirt stays is a mattress clip (holds mattress pad to mattress I think??) but you can buy them in your local Wally-World if you need a quick substitute.

I used to spend 2+ hours on creases and they would look great. Then I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder...
Just kidding. That's a good sign, it means you care about details. That probably has something to do with why you made Cadet Colonel as well...

Sorry, wasn't me who spends two hours on creases. I have college, flying, life, and school. Unfortunately, none of the above permit me to spend two hours on creases. I remember spending considerably more time on my uniform years ago, but I think I've gotten alot faster. I've also learned the tricks of the trade (and bought new uniforms-- CAPers out there you know what some of the uniforms look like that we get out of supply :o ).

Haha very funny. I went into my Sub-Recruiting office on day and my Recruiter gave me two more set's of shirt stays. My AI use to wear 12 when he was a Drill Sergeant. Seminarian_Tim what are you talking about, I'm a C/Cpt. The key is soap, turn your shirt inside out and run a very light amount of soap on the back of the crease, then spray starch and iron repeat on the other-side and on the other creases. My AI calls me "Crisp"

Garters are certainly an essential item to have, especially when you're getting inspected, but they do have their down-sides:
If you're wearing a tie and sit down and lean forward, you tend to get choked a little (at leas that's what happens to me).
Also, if they end up snapping on you, it really really hurts. I was unfortunate enough to be taking a test one day, and after turning it in was going back to my seat when..SNAP!!! Everyone heard it and I thought the pain would never stop. Just remember: sit down carefully

That has never happened to me. Does it hit your "Whoo-hoo". I guess that's why it hurts so much. I love them and they don't other me when I wear a Shirt and tie.

I use them only when I am not wearing my Service Coat. The reason I wear them with my Short sleeve and/or long sleeve shirt is for the professional image. I don't wear them with the Service Coat, because they are a bit uncomfortable. And they also tend to put a bit of rust on the shirt if you sweat. Popping off hasn't happened to me yet. Also. Cadets, don't put them EXTEREMELY tight. You will cut off circulation. Hope this is a good review! :D

I've never really needed shirt garters to keep my shirt looking taught and unwrinkled, but that's probably due to to my small body frame.

They have a new thing its called a "Hidden Tailor Belt" I have been told it does the exact same thing as Shrit Garters but it doesn't snap and does not ruin creases.

Well I know what I used to do was wrap tape around the bottom of my shirt before a performance right above my shirt stays to make my shirt have a more tailored look to my body. It keeps your pants up while keeping you shirt tucked in, it doesn't do anything about your socks though.

Not too bad of an idea. Might have to try that some time.

The cadets in my unit are required to wear shirt stays. I prefer the foot loop type since the ones that clip to your socks snap off and the male cadets complain that it pulls the hairs off their legs so they're better for them too.
