When will they go into service? Are those in the picture the all of the new uniforms? I prefer the current uniforms. The current uniforms offer more of a variety and are better looking, in my opinion. No offense to anyone.

Me too. I like how they aren'y changing the crackerjacks to much.

I honestly think it does look kinda decent. Though I have have never been in the navy myself, my uncle has, and he has been raving on about the uniforms that they used to wear 30 years ago.
Then again, his main uniform was a flight suit, not the whites.

Images of the new Naval uniforms have been going around for a while, they are transitioning to a new service uniform, khaki shirt, black pants, and a black garrison cap.
They are also going to a new utility uniform, the Naval Working Uniform. Its kind of like BDUs, but in an ACU pattern, but blue and grey. See the link below if that didn't make any sense...
Officers are getting a new dress uniform, very similar to the Khakis from the WWII era.
Enlisted dress uniforms, 'Crackerjacks', are being modified to be more 'traditional', with the reintroduction of bell bottom pants and a few other features.

I love those sites you enclosed. Could you post the website? The permanent Crease's are really not Permanent, they have a fishing line"plastic wire" sewn in. It's real good, there is only one problem though you cannot crease at the Last minute, the line melts.

How do you know they're not permanent? Did Navy Personnel Command lie to us in the photos? By the way, you don't take out fishing line creases, so for all intensive purposes, they're permanent...unless you buy a new shirt.

I can't wait for the NWU's to come out. Not that I'm not proud of my uniform or anything, but I'd take those over dungarees any day.

They are permanent to a certain extent. They do require a little bit of ironing to make them look better than they would if you just grabbed it from the dryer. You can Iron the fishing line down straight but it will look ike a egg popped where the Crease was.

What I meant by permanent is that you're never getting that line separated from the shirt once the creases are made. In case, for example, you mess up the crease when you first do it. Anyway, this topic should get back on track. If somebody wants to go ahead and make a separate thread about this particular uniform question, that might be good.

I totally agree with you. I have a question for you guys, DO you like the standard "Crackerjack" pants or the Bell Bottoms?

Uh, granted I've only been wearing them for the last 14 years, but Service Dress Blues/Whites (aka "crackerjacks") have always had bell-bottoms. Could you let me know as to when they were phased out, 'cause I guess I've been out of uniform. [/sarcasm] Winter Blues/Summer Whites and Utilities are a standard straight leg.

Oops, There are a couple of ways to get the crease out of the new shirt if you mess up.
1.Turn to low heat(So it won't melt the line)
2.Put it on steam press
3.Iron the creases flat very gently and slowly.
4.Redo the creases(Right this time).
Petty Officer pingjocky,
Have you guys been issued these yet?

I think they are being issued in Early 2009.
That's what I read, but as far as I know (which isn't much), they start issueing new uniforms to DI's and such and recruits before the rest of the fleet. I'll dig around a little more and see if I can find a good link.

First of all the Navy and Coast guard call there Basic Military Training instructors Company Commanders. I don't know about that I thought they would be issued to recruiters first or some job like that.

Not quite...Company Commanders in Navy Boot are called Recruit Division Commanders, or RDCs.

Okay, sorry about that. You learn something new everyday. Me and our local Navy Recuiter where talking(yes I talk to Recruiters for fun) and he showed me a video of the Wear and Tear Trials of the new NWU. I got to tell you it works real good.
