It's a seemingly dumb question, but I've heard some pretty heated arguments over this topic. So, which is it? Grill with gas or grill with charcoal?
I'm a charcoal man myself. I like the flavor better than gas and I personally think gas grilling is cheating.
Hope we all have fun with this one...

Wood is actually my first choice, followed by charcoal.
I never use gas....ever....something about that just makes my skin crawl. :)

When I grill for those family or any day occasions, I have to pull out the charcoal. And dispite the fact I'm a bit of a pyro and enjoy starting the biscuits with a nice large flame, the taste is just much cleaner and appealing to the taste buds.

While I prefer charcoal, CINCHOUSE, prefers gas for its ease of use and less mess. Also, she has a large pot that will not fit on her stove and has a gas burner outside for it, so when it is out of gas, the grill is willing to give up its tank for the good of the house.

If nobody minds me adding to the topic, of the charcoal users, what brand do you prefer?
Personally, I go for Kingsford. Decent price and great taste

Beat me to it. But when I don't have time, burgers on the ole gas grill will do alright...

KingsFord is the best. And the only brand I will buy (bought) when using the charcoal grill.

I like the taste of applewood with Kingsford charcoal. Now here's a question...barbeque sauce or no barbecue sauce? I've talked to several people who claim that sauce is a coverup for bad barbeque and that REAL barbeque doesn't need sauce.

Chicken always gets the sauce marinade. Beef usually gets a spice rub that I put together.

Depends on the mood and the quality of the meat.
Steak, usually bare, maybe a nice rub or marinade
Chicken, naked, skin on.
Fish, lemon juice, salt and pepper
Ribs (pork or beef), have got to have the sauce, its all about the sauce with ribs.

Without question, wood. Apple or hickory if you have it, but oak or maple's fine. Nothing's better than a thick layer of hot ash and a ribeye, dripping sweat. There's some pretty good BBQ sauce out there, better than I can mix, anyway. My gas grill comes in handy for boiling corn etc. I'm hungry. :D

Same for me
And as for Seminarian_Tim, Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce is amazing... it goes great for anything... from bbq to fries.

I've had that stuff before. It's pretty good, but I usually go for the Jack Daniel's #7 barbeque sauce. It has good flavor and you don't need much of it.

When it comes to sauce I enjoy Buffalo Wild Wings selection. Spicy garlic, carribean jerk, and honey bbq are my personal favorites.
I prefer wood, here in OZ if you burn Gum tree, you get to a much higher heat and lasts longer.
Buffalo wings always made me laugh never knew what they were, until taking hubby out on a food shop. He jumped up and down carrying on about those wings I looked, he was pointing to chicken wings :lookaround:
The lady behind the counter looked like this --> :dontgetit:
I guess your chickens in the states don't have wings all that often :p

Cant say Ive had anything better than Hickory with A good NY Strip and some baked potatoes that are lightly seasoned in a lemon marinade.
Though I have had gas and it kinda leaves a bitter aftertaste to me, has anyone else noticed that when you cook meat on a gas grill?

I'm pretty sure everyone has, thats why in my bias oppinion, charcoal is better for the grill, and camping, and the environment, etc... :D
