Have any of you been demoted in JROTC?

I was demoted today in JROTC, from C/SFC to C/PVT. :)

JROTC? No.

ROTC? I was promoted from C/CPT to C/COL and then demoted back to C/CPT in the span of one hour. (My Professor of Military Science and Senior Enlisted Instructor had a great sense of humor and it was my punishment for doing something really stupid.)

Let's take a look at the AFI for those of you in AFJROTC:

AFJROTCI 36-2001 21 JUNE 2007

6.2.4. All cadets are assigned a permanent grade commensurate with the number of AFJROTC years satisfactorily completed; i.e., the permanent grade for first-year cadets is Airman; second-year, Airman First Class; third-year, Senior Airman; and fourth-year, if offered, Staff Sergeant. Permanent grades are awarded during the second semester of each year. Retention of permanent grades is contingent upon satisfactory performance and behavior as determined by the AFJROTC Instructors. Permanent officer status will be awarded to cadets holding officer positions for two or more grading periods. Exceptions are authorized at the discretion of the AFJROTC Instructors and in accordance with published unit guidance.

6.2.5. Cadets may be assigned a temporary grade based on a specific position. Use of a temporary-permanent grade pattern is optional and intended to serve as an administrative vehicle for rotation of responsibility and to avoid imbalances in grade structure. Cadets serving in a temporary grade may revert to their permanent grade upon completion of these duties. At the discretion of the AFJROTC Instructors, cadets in their final term of AFJROTC may retain the highest rank to which they have been promoted, regardless of course level.

Could it be that you held TEMPORARY Rank and were taken back down according to the regulations?

ANG1SGT, I am in Army Junior ROTC. I was appointed to Cadet Sergeant First Class as per my position as Platoon Sergeant. Since I... well... resigned from being Platoon Sergeant, I was demoted.

And YOU posted this in the GENERAL Cadet Area, so I gave an example of how we like to have responses here in this forum. The AFI I posted should be one that every AF JROTC cadet should know because it deals with THEIR promotions. I am sure that the Army JROTC has a Reg that pertains to this also. Being that I will not do YOUR work for you, I site this as an example only.

Do you not think some of your fellow Cadet can use this information?

Unfortunately I was demoted from C/SSG to C/SGT. That is rather unfortunate because I just met my squad and got to know them.

*Update* Since my recent demotion I have been very proactive in my battalion and have received several rewards (hopefully that will get me back up to C/SSG.) I have to say though, since my demotion I still consider myself a C/SSG and the person who is filling in for me (previously a C/SGT) is doing horrible so I need to go back to my old position anyway. Does this seem to happen in most places?

I gave you an example of what the proper rank abbreviation was. This time I edited it for you. Next time I issue an infraction.

While this all looks good on paper, this doesn't actually come in to practice.

I would like to see my unit be able to push through demotions, but our SNSI and our NSI seem to be too lenient with our cadets. They do this to keep cadets that don't really want to do anything, in the unit.

Unfortuantely this leads to situations like trying to command my team, who are suppossed to be our more disciplined cadets, and giving them pushups, and my NSI stopping me, and saying that it is his job only.

Well, I've never been demoted, but a cadet in my company that was advancing fast called a girl fat, and that didn't go over well with the instructors so he was demoted from C/CPL to C/PV2. At first I didn't think it was funny, but the more I thought about it, the situation got very funny.

That is stupid and I don't believe it was because the cadet called her fat it was probably because her was repeatdly harassing her and wouldn't stop when instructed to do so. Sorry if I sounded mean, work was rough today.
