Ok I know it's been a while but I just had to post this experience I had. A couple weeks ago I went down to my families hometown of Birmingham, Alabama and my family (my great-aunts, uncles and cousins) said they had found a nice girl for me that they wanted me to take out before I left. So when they told me I said that I was dating this girl and they of course asked about her being that great family they are and so when I started talking about her I mentioned she was black and showed them a picture. They all went crazy and said how ashamed they where of me and how I could do better than her. I was mad for a couple of minutes but then I felt real bad that they are so close minded that they can't see past skin color. I also explained to them how we just clicked and how perfect she was for me but they where still mad and shocked. I want to bring her down (if we're still together) to meet my family before I leave for Parris Island in June. DO you guys think is a smart decision and did I handle the situation well.

Personally I would leave it .Time before boot camp is short and do you really want to waste it trying to stop your relatives being bigots ?

Yeah, I'm with Woody. You have only a little while until you go to Boot, don't waste it with worrying about relationships.

Not to mention, my mom hates me because I like white girls. *shrug*
