Hello. My grandfather served with the 8th infantry division, 13th infantry regiment in WW2. I have many of the things that he brought back with him to the states, and am trying to learn more about them. Here is a picture of 3 badges that were among his things. Can anyone help me identify what they mean. Thanks so much.

The ribbons look like the:

EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MIDDLE EASTERN MEDAL with three campaign stars (http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Awards/EUROPEAN-AFRICAN-MID%20EAST1.html)
Army GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL (http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Awards/GOOD_CONDUCT_MEDAL.htm)
WOMEN'S ARMY CORPS MEDAL (http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/Awards/WOMEN'S%20ARMY%20CORPS1.html)

Still looking for the crest.

The red, white and blue star flag pin is sweet heart jewelry for family member in service.

That 3rd one is a Purple Heart. I don't think old Grandpa would have been awarded a WAC medal. The ribbons look dirty or it could be the photo itself that muddies the colors somewhat.

That was the hardest one to id.

I thought it might be a stretch, but you never know.

I would have to agree with this assessment.

The left top is "sweet heart" jewelry alright, usually worn the mother or wife of a service member. The single star means a single member of the family in the service of the USA. Blue star = alive. Gold star = dead. The eagle underneath signifies the US Army as the branch of service the family member is in.

The top right looks like a regimental crest of some sort but Googling 8th ID and 13th INF Regt came up with nothing under images. You may want to manually search all the pages of the TIOH. http://www.tioh.hqda.pentagon.mil/DUI_SSI_COA_page.htm

I pulled out my unit crest reference book last night and did not see that particular crest in it anywhere.

Some crests were changed after WWII, and those are not always easy to find. There were also some crests that were unit created and never officially recognized. That crest really has me intrigued.

Should not a Purple Heart ribbon be mounted on the left side of the awards bar?

The ribbon bar is upside down.

I can't see the image you posted. Can you use the 'paperclip' feature and upload to the website instead of the 'insert image' feature, please? Some networks like mine prevent images from being displayed from certain websites for security reasons.
