Hello. My grandfather served in the 8th infantry division, 13th infantry regiment during ww2. Before he was switched to infantry he had training, I believe, with an anti aircraft unit. I have 2 pictures of him posing with his gun crew and I am hoping to find out what kind of weapons these are in the pictures and what his job might have been. In the first picture he is the person with the long line above their head. On the back of the photo he writes that where he is standing in the photo is "his job".
I would also love to find out which outfit he was training with before being moved to infantry. The pictures appear to be in the desert, and I have a prayer book with his name in it that says he recieved it in Pasadena Christmas of 1943. would there be any way to track down this anti aircraft unit?
