I have been on a research mission for my grandfather's ribbons I have his records of separation, on his pics he has 5 ribbons but on the records it only lists 3... it doesn't list his WWII Occupation ribbon which I have identified on his wedding photo, but it does list his Good Conduct, EAME and the Victory Medal. Are there any other medals or ribbons that would not be listed on his ROS I hope to scan the pics I have of him and see if any of you can tell...
any thoughts of other ways I can find out?

By "Record of Separation", I assume you mean a copy of the WWII-era form he was given at the time of his discharge? If so, I'd start by requesting his official military record from the Veterans Administration here:
http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html
I wouldn't count too much on it, though, as a fire in the mid-1970s destroyed the majority of the records from that time period. I requested the files on my grandfather, and numerous entries on it were wrong (rank, missing ribbons, etc), and I've got a copy of his discharge certificate and service record).
If you've got the papers saying he's got the awards, you can submit a DD-215 to amend his records and have them updated to reflect the earlier ones.
I hope this helps!
I'd be curious to see those pictures, as well.

you know the irony to me is as rome burned (centuries before) so did my grandfathers records in that very fire in STL... ( my grandfather was in rome when it surrendered hence the joke) yes the Records of Seperation are from before the fire... and surprise surprise they are still missing records (my grandmother has given me everything she has... alot was lost in a flood back in the 50's
the problem with the pics is the light from the flash and on his wedding pic he is at an angle that the only one I can really recognize is his good conduct and the Occupation ribbon... I am still going to scan them and see if anyone else can tell...

Definitely scan them. It's amazing what one can do with the photo programs today.

Besides photos, it would help to know where he served, what units, and what dates. Plus, when he entered the service and the discharge date.
