*EDIT: I found a website that is actually pretty aesthetically pleasing, that'll Host these writings for me (So, I don't have to create my own website....at least not yet....).....

*Feel free to answer the POLL about your branch.....as expected Infantry and Aviation are currently fore-runners...... :)

Having recently graduated LDAC, and having received my commission as a 2nd LT, throughout LDAC I kept a rather lengthy journal. From leaving my home, until graduation and arrival back home, I documented all the MANY things that I did to prepare for LDAC, as well as, lesson's learned.
I filled roughly 3/4's of my Soldiers' Notebook up with writings that covered everything from packing and preparing for LDAC to actual things you can do to time management and make LDAC as painless as possible.
Would anyone ever be interested in reading these? For awhile, I thought about attempting to publish these in a book called "Lessons Learned from LDAC" or something like that, however, I decided to hand-type all these 'chapters' into electronic format, and upload them to a website......
Let me know if you'd be interested, and I'll begin to post them......I have roughly 10 chapters written out now, with 30-40 more to go....
I did this primarily to provide a resource to upcoming ROTC cadets who would be going to LDAC eventually in the future.....

P.S. I'm not charging for any of these writings........I did this to essentially provide a guide for upcoming MSIII's at my college, to help them with their preparation for LDAC, and to help them be successful....

I'd read them if you published them.

I'd like to request a copy; this is something I want to start preparing myself for now, so if you could send that to me, I'd be very grateful. PM me if you finish it and I'll give you an e-mail address to send it to.

I found a free website development-type service that will host these writings.......and, I've begun hand-typing them into there....
http://www.squidoo.com/ldac
I'm not sure if I'd be able to just cut and paste all the writings to this forum....I don't want to 'force' people to read them/ or impose it on anyone, especially if they don't want to read them...or they aren't applicable to them....
No matter where a cadet is in their Army ROTC program, one should really consider reading these because LDAC is an inevitable requirement that they will have to attend eventually in their college career...
So...whether MSI, MSII, or MSIII, I encourage you to read this writing....for MSIV's, this would be great to share with the MSIII's, and below, that you'll be leading.......

Are you just about to begin your Army ROTC career, RLM? If so....it's really awesome that you'd show interest in this so early on.....there are some cadets I knew that really didn't even start to prepare themselves, to the extent that they should have, until a month or two before actually departing for LDAC.....
Iv'e been prior service for 7 years now, and, in my honest estimate, LDAC is a pretty stringent test of a cadet's physical stamina and leadership capabilities.....especially when you get to patrolling and STX lanes.....where you'll be expected to carry a 50+ lbs rucksack, for at least 10-12 hours, in the blistering heat.....conducting 3 (patrolling lanes) and 6 (STX lanes) a day...

Also....I have a quick POLL in their right at the top of that page....just about what army branch you really want....or have been assigned to already....
(Because...sometimes we don't always get our first pick, unfortunately...)...
as suspected, Infantry and Aviation are currently fore-runners in the poll...... :inlove::D

Yep, this is the beginning. This fall is my first year of Army ROTC, and I plan to have it lead into a commission in 2013 into the AG Corps. I learned very quickly in JROTC that if you don't prepare yourself for big camps like that, it'll mess you up. Even when I had a week-long cadet officer camp, I spent the two months beforehand studying the workbook for leadership theory, getting into shape, etc. I watched many cadets from my own school at this camp crash and burn because they did their wookbooks the night before (with my help), or didn't get into shape, or otherwise prepare themselves. It's possible to do okay jumping in, but I intend to plan well in advance for it and set a new standard when I get there. I intend to get exactly what I want out of that camp; a branch assignment I want, and a good tweaking for my leadership abilities.

This is GREAT thinking, RLM.......that degree of dedication to preparation shows some awesome qualities and the makings of a really great officer.....
I'll actually use this post as inspiration and motivation to make this an awesome guide for those cadets preparing to go to LDAC......even with 10 'chapters', it's still in it's infancy....it's a rather large undertaking....but, I have quite a bit I'll be adding to it from now to when the next round of cadets start to leave for LDAC early next summer.....my hope is that this guide will endure for years to come.....

Does anyone here have any specific questions about LDAC/ or ROTC in general? I filled up quite a bit of my notebook with these 'lessons learned', so I'm not even remotely close to being finished with uploading everything..........It's standing solid at around 10 'chapters' now....but, I have quite a bit more to ADD......
If you like where this is going, feel free to Bookmark it, or email it to another cadet who you feel could benefit from it.....
I have a significant amount of 'substance' that I'll be adding over the coming days/weeks....it's just a matter of transferring it from my notebook to that page....:D

Am I the only one who sees no poll? Where is it...
hm.....
....there should be a POLL right after the introduction on this page.....the Poll basically gives several options for the military branch that one has received, or hopes to receive....
Does anyone else NOT see the Poll? Quite a few people have responded to it already......
Once you respond to it, it'll actually show a break down of how everyone else has voted......

I don't see it, but I'm guessing you mean on the link you posted. And I just looked at your first post again and somehow your name seems so familiar to me. Are you the same 2LT Romans that spams on facebook? :D I see your posts all over groups over there. Just curious....... If not, you have the same signature as a Romans that does.
P.S- Thanks for your service, sir.

lol....I would hardly call 'sharing a valuable resource' with future officers "Spam".....Quite a bit of time and effort went into writing that Guide, and, yes, I have posted it to the LDAC and ROTC group on Facebook.....
Since LDAC is essentially over this Summer, I'm not expecting it to be sought quite as much as it will be when another round of 5,000+ cadets leave for For Lewis next summer....even still, that page alone is gaining quite a bit of organic Google search traffic....so, I do know that there are many cadets out there (if they are anything like I was before I left for LDAC) who are looking for any kind of information to help them better prepare for LDAC and earn an 'E'....:D

This looks like a great idea.
Thanks for all the effort that most likely went into making this guide.
