Don't you hate it when your listening to your Ipod and all of a sudden one earbud just stops working. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me?

No I've had this problem too. I hate it! Especially when it happens when you're PTing. You probably just blew out your headphones, atleast that's what I did.

How do you blow out headphones though?

Those cheap ear buds that come with your I-Pod aren't rated for the high volumes that the I-Pod and other MP3 devices are able to put out. They will work for a while, but sooner or later you're gonna have to suck it up and buy some quality headphones. Hell, any self-respecting purveyor of music ditched them before they even used them anyways. Spend the couple extra bucks (really, a few more goes a long way) and buy yourself a quality set; doesn't have to be some bad-ass set from BOSE or anything, but the extra coin will make a difference.

Listening to music too loud...I got some at walmart, I think they're JVC, they're colorful (mine are pink hahaha), and they work pretty well and I've had them for a while now.

Well I ditched the Ipod earbuds when I got the Ipod and I have gone through five sets of quality earbuds in about a year. I tried the JVC gummies you buy at Wal-mart and they worked but I lost them. I want to find a pair in Scarlet and Gold:D.

You are probably listening to the music way too loud to begin with. Try turning down the volume a few notches and I bet they will last a lot longer.

SEE HEARING LOSS: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/12/051216191834.htm

“We’re seeing the kind of hearing loss in younger people typically found in aging adults. Unfortunately, the earbuds preferred by music listeners are even more likely to cause hearing loss than the muff-type earphones that were associated with the older devices,” Garstecki said.
Not only are earbuds placed directly into the ear, they can boost the sound signal by as much as six to nine decibels. “That’s the difference in intensity between the sound made by a vacuum cleaner and the sound of a motorcycle engine,” said Garstecki, professor and chair in the Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

If you're blowing the speakers in your earbuds, you just might be listening a bit too loud. It's not going to be fun when you're deaf at the age of 30...

What?

My hearing is shot. But that is not because of loud music but because of all the loud booming of tanks firing, artillery going off (and impacts), explosives, gun fire, screaming, and constant off-squelch radio noise on the military radios.

I'd rather sit around telling war stories about how I lost my hearing in combat than "... this one time in Band Camp, I had these awesome I-Pod Ear Buds...".

Hey, just because some of us have to take our hearing test 3 times to finally get into the "passing" level doesn't mean that we have hearing problems...

Uhhh, this happens to me all the time. I think it might be because I sleep with my headphones on and maybe the pressure I put on it with my head breaks them? As for those people who are saying to buy the expensive earphones, they are right. I bought a dollar store pair, and they actually gave me an electric shock before one of the ears broke, I got so freaked out. So far the most I've spent on headphones is $15 (Sony's from Radio Shack) they lasted me about 3 months before they broke.
