Hey guys, its been a while since I was last here, I just wanted to stop by to tell y'all that I'll ship out to Recruit Training at MCRD Parris Island on Monday. Wish me luck and see you in 13 weeks.
Best of luck to you! Just put yourself in a frame of mind that you can do it,
and those 13 weeks will go by before you know it. We'll be thinking of you
and can't wait to call you Marine in 13 weeks and a few days.
I'm very proud of your choice and desire to serve our country. :flag:
Be sure and let your parents know about the MarineParents site, where they
can follow your class by graduation date at this link:

Good Luck to you and all those that have decided to serve. I have a friend that is going in pretty soon, but I know he will do well. Just get your mind in the game, do your best along with the extra effort and you will be fine.
Proud of all of you fine young men and women!

Bet you won't be saying that when you get there and have been for a few days ...probably be wishing you had more time than that.

Bet I would. The reason I'm saying this is because he has been in the DEP for quite sometime and I'm almost certain he has been ready to go for awhile. If I was him and I was ready to go, I'd be let down. So, I bet I would.

yeah, I have been in the DEP since August and I have been extremely anxious to go. I have been literally count down the days and when it went from 5 days to 12 days, it was a bit of a buzz kill. Still its only 7 more days, and I still can't wait for my chance to earn the title "United States Marine".

Well I was waiting for you to say something about how the USMC bootcamp was so difficult and I should be worried or something. But I guess I didn't push you that far. Maybe next time.........

No, I really wouldn't be worried either. I love endless PT and training, etc. as much as the next guy, but I'm just saying not to be absolutely thrilled and ecstatic about going (you'll get tired of it real quick unless your absolutely a freakin Spartan)....I'm looking forward to the actual specific job training much more...bootcamp is basically to weed out the uncommitteds and to learn basic soldiering, but job training is where the real fun begins and you do & learn what you went to the military to do (as long as you get the MOS you want that is)

True, unless you're like me, where you just like to embrace the suck.

Depends on what you mean by embrace...I also 'embrace' it in the sense that I like it because I know it will better me and entails what I like to do, but not in the sense that I enjoy thoroughly the details of it (in other words, I like the concepts and values it teaches and skills you learn, but don't "enjoy" the drill instructor's "fun" with recruits, just take it)

Enjoy the sand fleas recruit. Life is about to suck for you. Aqua velva and mouthwash are drinkable if you need a wake-up call or a quick buzz. Dont piss yourself. You have a better chance of being promoted faster if you find the biggest guy in your platoon on the first day and beat him up. Or is that prison? Is there a difference?
