I finally got my CompTIA Network Plus certification, after 4 network specific classes through my school. For those who don't know what it is, it's a certification that almost all computer networking professionals need to have, and 'proves' that you know basic to intermediate networking knowledge, in a very generalized since. I scored a 599 between a 100 to 900 scale, passing being 554, so I barely did it. I took it once before a while back and scored a 534 or something like that, and that was disappointing, but now I've got it. From here, I do nothing computer related in terms of work. I retook the test because my teacher had the extra voucher that he didn't want to waste and thought that I had a good shot. For now, it's something to have in the back of my pocket for a rainy day. Who knows when it will come in handy?

Congratulations. I currently hold CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security + certifications. Getting ready for the CompTIA Network + as well.

While the certs will help in getting the interview, don't forget to keep current so that when you land the interview, you are on top of your game.

Well, if you've got A+ and Security, you can ace the Network+. What kind of prep are you doing?

Took a class last fall and re-reading the material.

BTW FWIW I scored an 880 on the Security + exam (100-900 scale)

Sweet!!! You'll knock it out no problem then. Does your job require you to hold the cert?

Yes, the Air Force requires anyone with administrator access to an IS to have the CompTIA Security + cert.

I was talking about the Network+ Cert. I forgot you are still involved with the AF on an employment level. You are contracted out of Eglin AFB correct?

The Network+ cert is not a requirement. It is a want. And yes, I am a contractor working out at Eglin
