Well ive only flown with iit a few times... hardly enough to be an expert but in the sim we have here at the Det. We have 2004, and they have alot of decals for planes that you wouldn't even think of. Such as 50+ versions of the F/A 18 alone. And we have a Canadian rescue forces version of the C-130H.

I'm a pretty big gamer. And the best game ever has got to be Fable, and Fable 2 will be even better (don't care what anyone has to say it will be like talking to a brick wall, a very touchy brick wall with many a weapon).
Other games that have really stood out to me: HALO series, COD4 (won't be playing COD5 as I don't wish to slip back into the past for the millionth time), Mass Effect (RPG and a shooter, oh its good), Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (good good tactical shooter), and many more, but thats what stands out at me right now.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band (I actually don't own any Guitar Hero or Rock Band games, but I play them at my friend's houses. I plan on buying Rock Band 2.)
Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo
Of course, I liked a ton of other games along the way, but these are the ones that stood out the most. When I finally build my new computer, I expect many computer games to begin cluttering this list.

Yeah I've played COD4. Its great. Its graphics are second to none when it comes to the current generation of games. But just so you know, its not a tactical shooter or anything like that at all. It is probably one of the fastest paced shooters I've ever played (if you want to be good that is). The mullti-player is all that and a bag of chips with the well built ranking and rewards system. The single player campaign is also pretty intriguing, and its very very hard on the hardest difficulty (especially the prologue, but you have to see that for yourself). All in all, its a great game with great replay value. I just recently stopped playing it after quite a while just because of the new games coming out that I hope to be acquiring.

That's too bad. That was one of the best features about the first game. Depending on how friendly you were with the different countries, the ending would be different.

thats what I loved about when they made KOTOR and released it, there are just so many different paths that you can take and so many different directions that you can travel in. And the same thing with games like Oblivion, and such.

Oh oh, have you played Mass Effect? Its Bioware (same guys who did KOTOR) and its fantastic. Its a 3rd person shooter with a ton of RPG elements (or it could be an RPG with shooter elements).

I just saw the trailer for COD World at War. While I agree that there have been too many WW2 games made, I still might get this one. Not enough of the games have included the Pacific Theater, with the exception of Medal of Honor: Rising Sun of course. The Pacific Theater has been neglected too long in games, it played a role just as big, if not bigger than the European Theater.

The reason WW1 games aren't made is because the warfare of WW1 is not all that "appealing," not that war is appealing. Most of the warfare in WW1 consisted of trench warfare and charging enemy positions, not to mention the gas. I don't know of any WW1 games or any in production, or plans to make any at that. Most warfare of any game, actually it would be all, is all Holywood. When it comes to history, its not really all that much of a historical bamboosal.

Man.... I haven't had my PS2 hooked up in forever! As for my favorites - I'm a fan of the Call of Duty series, as well as the Medal of Honor series. I play the GTA series, sometimes, as well (GTA:IV is pretty cool).
On computer, I'm a fan of any type of flight simulator (still haven't gotten FSX yet, but I've played it many a time). I also think the Sims games, and Sim City games are pretty cool.

Tom Clancy's End War has just come out, well the demo, on Xbox Live. If anyone of you guys are into 360 Live gaming, a fan of Tom Clancy titles, and have a love for strategy, this things is schweet. You actually play the game using your voice. It's so cool, all you do is pull the right trigger, speak into your microphone, and your units on screen do exactly what you want. Its great! Oh, and PM me if anyone would like my gamer tag or you want me to add yours.

What I've always wondered is why do people hate Treyarch? Yeah, the gameplay may be a little sub-par, but I enjoy it, and they make way better stories than Infinity Ward.
CoD 3 had characters, while CoD 4 had: "Omg, black guy", "lol Price", and "Ruskies and A-Rabs".

It's because we, and by we I mean most of the gaming populous, are bored of WWII games and COD4 was fresh and fun, not a grueling story with deep characters. COD4 did a few things right: combat (in terms of gaming) and visuals, which is what people really want to see sometimes when the gaming industry is a wash with too many wanna-be story lines. COD5 may be good, because of the revamped multi-player, but I don't think I would by it for the single-player campaign.

I thought it was a good attempt, and a fun play quite a while back. I just don't think it will be a block buster like COD4 because it will be set on the WWII stage, pacific theater or not. The multi-player should be relatively fun, and it will be cool to see what kinds of new perks they will have, but I don't know if that will be reason enough for me to go out and spend $60 on it.

I wouldn't receive it on release day anyways, it would ship to me on release day. But it would have been on my doorstep 2-3 days after ship (Friday at latest). I emailed them (superduperclub - read below) and they said its on back order. Apparantley, they haven't gotten it either. They said that it will be coming soon, and I guess all I can do is wait now, but it has given me time to finish up some achievements on other games so...
I had never heard of this place "superduperclub," but a friend of mine swore by them and told me to order there. I figured what the hell, I'll look outside of my usual place of business (Newegg) and see if there is better service/shipping/whatever. There isn't. If you go through Newegg, there isn't a reason to go anywhere else, and if you don't, go through Newegg. I should have in the first place, but he swore by it. Not listening to him anymore (btw: he is also out of a copy of Fable II right now so ha!).

For me, the point of buying online is so they ship it. I don't have a car right now, and its hard for me to get places a lot of the time, so ordering online and them shipping to me is the reason for that. Gamestop is good, probably just as good as Newegg, but I like Newegg because that's where I do ALL of my computer/gaming/electronics business. Having it all done in one place is just easier for me.

Assasin's Creed
The first time I played this game I was really impressed. The graphics were phenominal. I thought the gameplay and story were engaging and different than anything I'd played before. However, after about an hour it got really repetitive. It was the same thing over and over again. Climb this, jump off that, talk to this person, climb this, jump off that, talk to the next person.
Fortunately, I rented this one and only wasted $4.00 instead of $60.
However, I've been playing the following lately for my PS3.
1) Call of Duty: World at War
2) Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
3) Rock Band & Rock Band 2
4) Star Wars: Force Unleashed
All games that I've found great replay value with and can keep me entertained.

Tom Clancy's: End War
Rent it or borrow it first, you could be in for a mass disappointment. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world to be able to vocally command your individual units (absolutely no problem by the way), but the game play becomes repetitive after one play through. But, if you are a really big RTS game and would like a part of one of the most innovative games of this day and age, go for it.

Assasin's Creed is a bit repetetive, as are most games. But I thought it was fun, first time I had ever played something of the nature.

Never got into CS, but I played AA for a while, and I've heard a new version will be coming soon built on the U3 engine. Should bring some good looks to a game that has been ugly for a while. But then again AA was never meant to be a gfx hog, but a 'realistic' simulation (defiantly not meant for recruiting ;)).

Half-Life (the original) was a revolution in FPS online games. There were HUNDREDS of great mods for that game. The three that stood out however, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, and Day Of Defeat (one of the best games EVER.) I can't tell you how many days (possibly years) I've logged on those three.
Rainbow Six/Rogue Spear were also great combination's of the FPS and strategy genres. Spent many a hour crafting the "perfect" plan of attack on those, only to see my team get chopped up at the entrance.
You can't forget the C&C series, Red Alert (1&2, haven't tried 3 yet) especially. Just as responsible as Wolfenstein & Duke Nukem for my love of video games.
I recently picked up the Battlefield 1942 Complete Collection (w/ BF: Vietnam) from Best Buy for $10 so I've been on that for a couple weeks now.
But quite honestly, Madden football is the greatest game ever.

Do you think Fable I or Fable II was better. To me, Fable I was much much better. I just don't like the direction that they took Fable II in. It just didn't feel like Fable to me. I thought the story was poor and the ending was very very anti-climactic. And it seemed to me the lore of Fable I just wasn't very important to the sequel. Maybe I was just too excited for it (read back a few pages and you will see) and it just wasn't what I was expecting.

Actually, there are quite a few Vietnam games, and many of the other FPS games have mods that will do a total conversion. I've yet to see a Revolutionary War game, and I've only seen a couple mods for WW2 games that transform them into WW1, never a standalone game (short of Red Baron).
In the scope of conflicts being overlooked by video games however, I have NEVER seen or even heard of one on Korea (1950 era, not current. I know about a few of those).

Looks like Konami and Atomic are teaming up in the creation of an 'ultrarealistic military shooter' titled Six Days in Fallujah. Here's the story from Gamespot:

Six Days in Fallujah First Look
* By Brian Ekberg, GameSpot
* Posted Apr 13, 2009 11:00 am PT
Konami and Atomic Games unveil their ultrarealistic military shooter, and we've got a first look.
Konami's upcoming third-person military combat game, Six Days in Fallujah, puts the player into the boots of the United States Marine Corps soldiers who were involved in the six-day assault on Fallujah, Iraq in 2004. Described by military officials as some of the heaviest urban combat involving Marines in recent memory, the six-day battle is being re-created by developer Atomic Games with input from some of the 3rd Battalion 1st Marines who were there. Konami unveiled the game last week during its spring press event in San Francisco and showed some footage of the game in action.
A squad-based third-person shooter that will put you in the boots of a Marine on the ground, Six Days in Fallujah is aiming to put an emphasis on accuracy and realism in its re-creation of the tense urban combat that defined the assault on the city. The video footage of the game shown during the stage demo featured small squads of Marines engaging Iraqi insurgents in cramped alleyways as well as in and among buildings.
With a focus on urban combat, and all of the complications that fighting in close quarters and among civilians brings with it, the developers at Atomic Games have created a new game engine to power the action in Six Days. The hallmark of the new engine is destruction; everything from individual bricks to entire buildings will be candidates for destruction in the game, a fact that opens up entirely new avenues of strategy when taking to the streets in the hunt for insurgents. In one gameplay video, a Marine squad was stationed outside of a building that was filled with enemy insurgents. Instead of attacking through the front door and risking casualties, the Marines blew a hole in the side of the building, stormed inside, and forced the enemies out into the street, where another pack of Marines were waiting to pick them off.
There were several examples of the kind of destructive power on display in the Atomic engine (as it's known), including Marines taking down sections of buildings with RPGs and grenade launchers, and cover being completely destroyed by hails of gunfire. As a result, this level of destruction puts particular demand not just on the game's AI (ensuring that enemies and allied units react accordingly), but also so that the player is always moving from one cover spot to the next.
Graphically, the Atomic engine seems to have captured the Iraqi architecture and dusty climate well, and little touches, such as the sound of the weapon reports themselves, sounded authentic to us. On the other hand, the destruction effects seem a bit too Lego-like and blocky for our tastes--here's hoping that the Atomic engine evolves in the coming months with more particle effects and a greater sense of "randomness" in how structure damage is conveyed.
Although the focus in Six Days is on realism, the game is still making concessions to some video game staples, such as the regenerating health meter. We'd like to see the option to turn on one-shot kills in the final game, if only to amp up the tension of every encounter. We're also curious to see how both the enemy and friendly AI react to the potential of constant change in the levels thanks to the engine's destruction effects.
Having produced training tools for the Marine corps before beginning development of Six Days in Fallujah, there's little doubt that Atomic games has both the pedigree and experience needed for an accurate re-creation of the events in Fallujah back in late 2004. Here's hoping that the team manages to strike a balance between the need for making a historically factual account with the equally important requirement of making a game that's fun to play. Stay tuned for much more on Six Days in Fallujah in the coming months.

Yeah I'm not too interested myself either. It's a little soon to be making games about this conflict I think. I'm also one of those, "Let's not try for realism, you won't ever ever achieve it, so let's stick with fun mechanics and realistic elements." These 'ultrarealistic' breeds don't make any money and are a waste of industry talent in my opinion. Then again Konami and Atomic aren't exactly big boy players in the industry anymore, well maybe Konami a bit, but Atomic is basically a no name. This will be a flop with no hype, especially if they are going for a fourth quarter release with titles like Bad Company 2, Call of Duty MW2, and Mass Effect 2 hitting the scene.

I'd probably pick it up, I've been looking for something realistic and tactical for a while (MW... not even R6V2 can do it for me, lol).
I don't get why people hate games that require a little bit of a brain to operate... like look at Ghost Recon. At first, it was awesome. Tactical with a realistic story, realistic weapons and characters, etc. Then, it started going towards... GRAW
TruBlu

GRAW sucks, just flat out. UBI made a big boo-boo when they shifted the Ghost Recon series. I like tactical a lot, but wanna-be realism just doesn't cut it for me really. To date, the best realism, on a console, has been R6V2 , and even that isn't really all that realistic. It's about balance. As to computer gaming, there is this one called Armed Assault that I hear is the most realistic game ever created, although I've never played it. I did really enjoy Project Reality Mod for BF2 back in the day though.

R6V2 is a pretty good game, but, it's nothing compared to the original Rainbow Six (and its sequels until... I think Lockdown -- my lord, that game sucked).
All companies want is money... so they try to target the more populous "casual" gamer, which is usually an eight year old who's parents believe that spanking is abuse.
Man... Ghost Recon (the original) was such a good game... I now feel bad about selling off my copy! >_<

My favorite was Ghost Recon 2. It improved on the first but held to it's mainstay: teamwork. I loved getting on LIVE with friends and mauling the competition because of our tactics. That was back in the day when I was doing all sorts of 'sporty' gaming where 'pros' existed and playing on teams and stuff against others. Now I'm a recreational gamer and just play to play when it suits me best.

Teamwork wasn't stressed (the KPA soldiers were so easy to take down it wasn't even funny), and even when it got tough, it was easy (lolwhut, tank? SOFLAM!!!)
I love how Ubisoft slaps Tom Clancy's name on anything remotely military to get people to buy it lol.
They're making a GRAW 3, tho. (Ubi, if this is about Special Forces soldiers destroying Mexican terrorists in Texas, I am going to cry.)

I dont really think that gaming companies will ever make an "ultra realistic Shooter". No game that i've ever played fully lets you feel what it's like to fire a military grade fully automatic combat weapon. I know you've shot military weapons before Blu, as have I, firing a gun on full auto or something similiar is a very violent and jaring act. you just can't simulate that. the only game to ever come even close was F.E.A.R.

Everyone remember that "ultra-realistic" video game that was supposed to come out? It's been cancelled.
RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Raleigh video game company's plans for a video game featuring one of the bloodiest battles of the Iraq war have been blown up by a deluge of criticism.
Atomic Games' "Six Days in Fallujah," which was scheduled for release next year, has been canceled by its distributor, Japanese video-game publisher Konami.
A spokesman for Atomic Games declined to discuss the cancellation and its impact on the company's operations in Raleigh, where it has 65 employees.
"We will be making ... an official statement in the next few days," said spokesman Reed Stoven. Atomic moved to Raleigh in 2006.
"Six Days" has been under fire since Atomic and Konami announced earlier this month that the game was in development. Although violence is common in video games, the news about "Six Days" seemed to hit a nerve because U.S. soldiers are still dying in Iraq.
Nor were critics swayed by the knowledge that Atomic has been working with Marines who fought at Fallujah to make the game historically accurate.
"The war is not a game and neither was the Battle of Fallujah," complained a statement issued by Gold Star Families Speaks Out, which represents relatives of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Gold Star Families had urged that the game be canceled.
The game's cancellation was first reported by the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, which quoted a Konami spokesman as saying: "After seeing the reaction to the video game in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it."
Konami spokesman Brandon Cox could not be reached immediately for comment.

It may be part of my hardware, I'm still waiting for a dedicated graphics card, but 512MB of on board graphics from my RAM shouldn't be that bad. It's fantastic. Character creation is very very in depth, more so that the first two combined. You now have the ability to fine tune every facial structure, hair, and even personality. The ability to choose attributes and life ambition is a stunningly positive impact on the game. Today, a friend of mine and I (finally a day off to just hang out and do NOTHING) created a family of three. We made some very stereotypical and not so kosher characters. They are all young adults, and bachelors. One is an obese, yet very muscular redneck who is a couch potato, a mooch, a slob, etc.; his life ambition is to be the ultimate gold digger: marry a rich girl and kill her off for the cash. Another is a scene emo kid, who is a coward but an artist who tries all his might in the music career but just seems to be the one cooking meals and cleaning up the house at the end of the day. Our third guy is my personal favorite: a gangsta, full on gangsta. He's pure muscle, hot-headed, and a kleptomaniac; he wants to be the "Emperor of Evil." The best thing is, all these personality types live under the same roof with two bedrooms with barley a bed each, a small kitchen and bathroom, and a giant living room complete with a massive HDTV, stereo system, couches galore, and a bar.
I highly, highly recommend it. I haven't even gotten around to designing and building yet, which is what I bought it for, because creating and living your sims is just so damn fun. As to customization though, it's great. You can take each piece of furniture and change the color scheme, texture, etc. You can create houses around any imaginable situation and make them look like whatever you want them to. Dude, it's a great game, the best $50 I've spent in a while, you will not be disappointed.

I don't visit this forum often, so this is a reply to two posts from a few months ago, but I think that a lot of people on this forum would like this game. TruBlu mentioned Armed Assault (ArmA) in a post and I have the game, so I thought I would share my thoughts on the game. It's a military simulation game for the PC.
It's about a group of US Army soldiers that are caught in a war between two nations on the fictional island of Sahrani. The soldiers were training the US-friendly South's military when the communist North attacks. I think the game is best in mulitplayer and its awesome mission editor. The editor lets you make scenarios, ranging from squad vs. squad firefights in a small village, to large battles with multiple units that involve multiple cities, the countryside in between, and the air above.
The game lets you play as infantry, or in a vehicles such as a tank, APC, helicopter or plane and more. It is one of the most realistic games ever made. Your health doesn't recharge like in CoD or Halo. If you are shot in your chest more than once, you will probably die. If you get hit in the leg, you can't walk until a medic patches you up. If you get shot in the arm, you will be very inaccurate. If you get shot in the head...I think you get the point.
The mods are what really make this game awesome though. They add units from the other US military branches, other nations militaries, new vehicles, new weapons and new islands.
There are a few problems with the game though. I personally can't stand the weapons in the game. They're the only unrealistic part of the game. Like C/Msgt.Wraith said, the weapons are nothing like what I imagine real weapons are like. I haven't shot any thing bigger than a H&K P2000 in .40 S&W, but there are some obvious flaws in the weapons. For example, when you fire, the slides on handguns and the bolts on rifles, SMGs and machine guns don't move at all. However, there are mods that fix those problems, so it's not that bad.
The sequel ArmA II was released this month, but I don't have it...yet.;)
There are also demos for both games, so if you're interested, I encourage you to check them out.
