Please be advised that the moderator abilities for O3_SHOOTER and Hairyeyeball have been rescinded effective immediately.

It gives me great pain to take this action, as both John and Duke were long-standing members of this forum, with us since (quite literally) the very beginning.

Good work.... Tough, but had to be done.

I think it was the right thing to do.

It's unfortunate when a leader has to make a tough decision like this, but it had to be done. I applaud you for doing the right thing when it was needed.

Like shooting a pet dog that has gone rabit.

I'm sure.

In this case, near half the litter.

I'm truly sorry you had to go through with this, chief. It's very unfortunate. I do believe though that it was the right move, considering the circumstances.

I'm not sorry it had to be done. If they were long-standing members of this forum, but yet thought by applying false bravado and embellishment would garner them respect and standing, the best thing to do is cut them loose. As this is not an exclusive military-only forum, I would trust that those in charge are the real deal; who better to instruct, give advice, encourage good discussion, than from individuals with intergrity, background and experience?

This forum seems to be frequented by many non-adults, some who aspire to service (whether CAP, active or reserve military). Great, applaud them for it; they do not need role models whose true credentials could fit on the side of matchbook. And until it is proven otherwise, that is all they have thus far.

No, sir, I'm not sorry. You have clowns in all walks of life; let them go juggle somewhere else. Hopefully they will have an revelation and get wired right and tight in life.

Have seen other sites which had bombshells of knuckleheads pulling similiar.

Grunt:

I know you had placed great trust and confidence in both of these guys. Its a shame to find out, especially after all these years, that trust had been taken out back, stomped on, spat on, and thrown in the dumpster.

Thanks for taking the hard right.

You did the right thing. I realize it was a difficult decision but no one needs imposters proclaiming false bravado.

Why is Shooter banned and HEB is not? Am I just reading the Members List wrong?

As a member, if I may make some requests now that the dust has settled.

From reading various posts, one of Jeff's (Grunt) intentions for this forum was for it be a place for ideas to be exchanged and various areas of military life discussed. The intention was to have people exchange thoughts, not just one word or one line comments (thus the reason for a 10 character limit), over the past couple weeks there have been many new members and also many...many...MANY posts that really serve no purpose to the general audiance here at Grunts.

My request is that any thread dealing with the HEB issue be locked (not deleted for historical record) and eventually they will move down as real conversation begin again. I would also request that my fellow members begin actually writing again, as opposed to the little "blurbs" that we have been getting recently.

There is a wealth of knowledge on this board that can be shared and we seem to have lost some of that over the past couple weeks due to other issues. I have seen several new members post, that I want to hear more from because I believe they will be an asset to the boards.

Bottom line: There was once a standard and level expected for members to communicate with each other here, regardless of who is or is not a mod, I believe we need to return to that.

Thanks for your time.

Phil

How does shooter go from being a Moderator to being banned in one day? There must have been some major firefighting going on behind the scenes.

Jeff - Sorry that this all happened, it had to have hurt to have all this conflict within your site and within your friendships.

You did the right thing, Jeff. I honestly believe that this forum will make a turn for the better, and not just because of the "poser" issue. There was quite a bit of bullying and power tripping done by those two, and I think this solution will ease a bit of the pressure off of the Cadets as well as the rest of the membership.

To be clear, John (03_SHOOTER) was banned from the forum as a result of events beyond these recent public discussions. Suffice it to say there were "other factors" involved in this decision.

As for Duke, the reason he has not been banned is because I would still like to give him the opportunity to come back and explain the entire situation. Given his absence during this delicate time, I thought it best to relieve him of his moderator duties until further notice. If and when Duke comes back and clears everything up to people's satisfaction, I will be more than willing to reinstate him as a moderator in this forum. Until that time I think it's best that we move on and try to leave much of this unfortunate situation behind us.
