I knew the good ole lounge was missin' something...

StormCrow requests a sticky for this thread.

Boys and Girls this is the Grog...shop talk is strictly prohibited in the lounge thus in spirit of an old Grunts Cadet Forum tradition started when I was one of the mods on that good ole forum...You talk shop or break grammar rules...to the Grog with you. This is fun yet serious...this is the uncanny walk of shame...I'm watching you...lol.

Just kidding...StormCrow declares himself president of the Grog.

Its just good clean fun, in most cases lol. But its really a way to deter people from being stupid or insulting on the forums. Just hope I won't have to drink from the grog anytime soon.

LOL! Drank from the grog pretty quickly actually! Dang, I didn't even think about that ASVAB thing.

Shop talk is talking about military or about the forums in a manner that can be done more properly in the General Cadet Discussion area. The lounge is...well...just that a lounge. Here we talk about whatever. Its all clean fun.

It's called Google, it is your friend. I recommend you learn how to use it.

What on God's green earth is a "Grog"?

Typically a vile substance... Never been subject to one but in a sense I have been a witness to its use. Though at the JROTC we never used alcoholic beverages, the aroma of it was less than... well you might say plesant, be we normally used a variety of uncommon vegetable juices and added something like vinegar to the batch.

Most commonly, as mentioned in the article above that BillyD referenced, there are 2 Grog Bowls, one Alcoholic, one non alcoholic for preferetial or religious reasons.

For our uses on the forum, we cannot give a vile serum to anyone due to... logistical reasons, thus we must resort to an archaic "reference" to being in the grog.

Okay, can we keep it on topic here. The Grog is not posting I do not think?

You can, but otherwise posting in the grog, about the grog, or for the grog gets you admission into the grog.

Really? At my JROTC unit they put paper slips in the bowl and we have to draw one and do whatever it says in front of the whole Corps and whoever the guest may be. It is embarassing and fun at the same time. :D

Did you bother reading back into the thread? The question was answered on this same page...

Take note to the first post of this page for a literal definition, and the first post of the whole thread for the forum definition.

I know you're new, but please - pay attention to detail. We require our members to do research before asking questions, and ones that have answers that are easily found (let alone, on the same page as the question) are unacceptable.

Welcome to Grunt's, by the way.

You will find all you need to know in the Cadet Announcement Forum. I would highly suggest that you proceed there and read the postings there regarding our Rules of Engagement and the Cadet Protection Policy.

They shalt always remain! Eventually, most people find themselves in this thread, don't sweat it.

Neither was I. Though I heard that they covered up the taste of most of the ingredients with lemonade mix.
